Gavin, what are the estimated gains of the 3-stage manifold, MMW headers, quality exhaust and a tune to bring it all together? I want to say around 280bhp and 250 ft-lbs. What do you think? I am scheming a way to build my wife's e91 into something I don't mind driving. Please post audio clips as soon as you have them installed in a car. If this is too loud it will never pass the wifey test. At any rate, good on you for being one of the few to support the naturally aspirated engines.

So are these the finished product? ceramic coating and all? As mentioned before, now to just see them installed on the N52 and you're golden! |

Lol guys,
These are in no way the final product, as you can see they are still rough and a little more fine tuning and we will be ready to ship out |

3 stage, 8-10whp Headers - 15whp+ good exhaust system - 2-3whp in combo - but it will aid in efficiency of power which is crucial. AA tune, about 15whp also. All together that's about 40whp gained. stock on motor a 328i is 230hp, so lets factor a huge loss of 20% from the drivetrain (it more like 18% in reality for an auto tranny, at least on all the dyno's i've done) So that's about 50hp gained on motor - Puts you right at the 280hp mark your shooting for. But with headers and the 3 stage, I would ask for AA to do the "off road" tune they offer... be up closer to 290-300 if Active works the magic i KNOW they can do. the noise... well the wife will notice. Unless she is Hellen Keller. I would honestly run it with the OEM exhaust but remove the 2nd cats from the OEM pipes to have the best sound to power gain/ and not make the wife mad. |

yep thats what im hoping for with your headers and a off road tune from aa. Hope to be around 240-250 HP to the wheels. Then maybe a 50 WET SHOT to play with the 335's from now and then! lol
Kinda wish it wasnt my daily then ide go FULL RACE and start removing weight! lol jk jk jk jk... i learned my lesson with my rx7 about full race gutted interor no A/C no PS manual rack plexy windows no dash just ducktaped gauges to firewall lol... I sure miss that car after i got done with it . it weighed in at 2234 LBS wet(full tank) with me in it and i was a good 250lbs. So a solid 1900lbs dry with out me. lol |

Hi Gavin,
can you tell us what makes your headers better than others aside from the coating. Cutting Cats gained dimsum roughly 15hp The OBX headers you had on previously were roughly the same gains but weren't bolt on Supersprint - i have never seen a dyno for but they are bolt on |

OBX headers aren't a direct 'bolt-on mod'. Folks have told me you have to move a motor mount as well as cut into your exhaust in order to get them to fit right. MMW headers are supposed to avoid this and be a direct 'plug-n-play' system (you'd still have to lift the engine about 3"-5" to get it in there, but nothing too major i'm guessing). Supersprint have a good reputation for exhaust systems - period. But because of this, they are charging $2,500+ plus shipping for their headers, and they aren't coated with any heat-resistant material. MMW on the other hand is putting a bit more effort for less than half the price (quoted to me before that they were going to be $1,100-$1,200). I can't see performance being that much different than each other; so why not save the money. ^__^ |
