I just use the water trick. lol I just spray a little water and put it on before. I did this for trunk spoilers lips etc. No once its dry let it cure. Like apply painters tip on it for resistance, clamps on the side. For me I don't do clamps I just use painters tape and let it in the sun for at least 6 hours. Any front lip I always put on screws. On my e36 m3 I don't over tighten it because I broke 3 lips since its lowered and it just rips off or cracks. I had an e36 non m so low one time on the highway i hit a dip and it broke off and I ran it over.

Yeah 70 dollar lip or not it makes the ride so much better! My plate for my e36 m3 is going to be TPLS M3 but they rejected it.... I tried KLLR BEE since its a dakar yellow M3 and they rejected it. I might do FCK DMV and see what they say.

Lotus, are you really questioning Tee's technique? Haha. Well, I can't really say by experience yet how well it's sticking. I'm more confident in the bolts.

degrading the adhesion? if you want to get down to all rocket scientific then to a molecular level... perhaps? but youre not wiping anything off, hell you can get the same effect using just tap water altho some ppl in here would use distilled lolol. ive used water and installed the spoiler at work in the parking lot...no taping it down or any type of clamping assistance.

I do the windex with vinyl graphics/decals to position while squeezing out the bubblies. I used to install wings west body kits on hondas with 3m only on 3p spoilers/lips/side skirts and rear bumper add ons. I lol at ppl using that black goop shit that bmw slangs (good luck removing that tar). also 3m alone works so well that bolts are optional....nothing ever fell off.

LOL, ammonia is all rocket scientific and molecular to you? Wow.

I'd feel stupid spraying it on and then finding out it's eating away at the adhesive or foam down the road. I've not read anything about using Windex for the install, which is why I asked where she'd heard it from, in case it's a new phenomenon or something.

For installing vinyl (did the same for taillight tint) to make sure it can be moved around a bit before it sets, I go with what the pros say to use: Either distilled water and alcohol or the water and a bit of dish soap.

spray 3m with windex let it dry and see if its still sticky, alcohol /soap (detergent) either one of these can wash away adhesive.

You can go ahead and keep doing it that way. Though I find it funny that ammonia is cited as a product to actually REMOVE adhesives...

PS I hear GooGone is a really good product to use too on the sticky tape, if that's your desired outcome!

I've seen worse fitment. It really is like rolling the dice on eBay. But what matters is if you like it!

Thanks, Mac! Yeah, I don't love the fitment but I'll keep it for now! I'm going to be extra careful now though after seeing your thrashed lip!
