F30 Hidden Menu

EDIT: Here is the hidden service menu guide from my car:

Anybody found the hidden menu in the F30 yet and confident in using it? I'm talking about the one between the speedometer and revs as in my video of my E90 330d below, although the iDrive one would be nice too. Any owners out there willing to upload a video guiding us through it?

EDIT: Here is the instrument test on my F30 which is even easier than the E90 to use!

Press the start button without starting the engine ( Auto - no foot on the brake -Manual clutch not in) turn on the car
Press the cluster reset button for longer than 10 seconds

The Idrive one should be similar to the E90 LCI procedure

Righty so the same procedure pretty much as the E90. Its just when I'm in the menu I get scared because it vary's from each model and using one button doesn't make it easy when there are things to be messed up! I only plucked up the courage to delve into my E90's "hidden menu" because of clear instructions and the lock.

Not too worried about the iDrive, yeah I assume it's the same if not very similar.

Only the fist 4 cluster functions are available without the unlock code being entered, so you should be fine

Test 02 is the system test which is probably like the one you have in the video
Test 03 exits the tests

Righty, so I can't really mess anything up?
Another question I do have regarding my E90 (and therefore probably the F30), if I go to menu 19 and unlock all the menu's by entering the total of the final 5 VIN numbers, can I mess things up? I would be interested to see them all and understand them but I will go without if there is a risk I can screw my car up!

There are some correction functions you can slightly change.

The F30 list of tests is different from the E90 one

There are some youtube videos that show the all tests on the E90

Don't suppose you have a list of tests for the F30? You usually pull out detailed BMW documents out of thin air!!

Just curious here, what's the purpose of entering the hidden menu?

Forbidden fruit? I'm guessing it's just for factory testing and dealer servicing.

In order to get the speed "V=xxx" on the cluster, you need to program the vehicle using NCSExpert software using a D-CAN cable.

iDrive hidden service menu

F30 with (professional) navigation
This implies that you have an idrive controller that can slide up and down

Call up Start (main) menu
• Push controller in up direction for at least 10 s
• Rotate controller, 3 notches to the right
• Rotate controller, 3 notches to the left
• Rotate controller, 1 notch to the right
• Rotate controller, 1 notch to the left
• Rotate controller, 1 notch to the right
• Press controller once
• The Service menu is now added as the last submenu to "Settings"

F30 without navigation, or with Business Navigation
This implies that you have an idrive controller that cannot slide up or down

The instructions are basically the same, but instead of pushing the controller in the up direction, which is not possible, you need to push the controller to the left and keep it there for 10 seconds. So the instructions become;

Call up Start (main) menu
• Push controller in the left direction for at least 10 s
• Rotate controller, 3 notches to the right
• Rotate controller, 3 notches to the left
• Rotate controller, 1 notch to the right
• Rotate controller, 1 notch to the left
• Rotate controller, 1 notch to the right
• Press controller once

Bluetooth pairing reset

Is there perchance a setting for resetting paired bluetooth devices/BT settings under the service menu? My BT link dropped a week ago and now i can't get any device (phone) paired to the car (it broadcasts PINs at regular intervals when i start the car but doesn't make a connection)...

Cheers for that, but I've already worked it out now I have my car! I'm sure it'll help others. In fact, I've videoed the instrument test (system test) in my "media harvesting" session for a reviewing thread I will create at some point. Pretty colours!
