When airbags deploy, an explosive wire disconnects the battery. You need to replace that wire on the battery.

No start after airbags deploy
I believe that's correct.

I would think so. Question is, why did they deploy. If in an accident, I assume the body shop will replace them. If they popped by themselves, then there is an electrical problem that has to be fixed before replacing them.

Thanks guys for the quick response. The car got into a fender bender, and airbags are not hard to replace if you have time on your hands and you're semi tech savy. They do need to be reset, but the car should start without resetting it.

Don't you also have to replace the seat belt tensioners if the airbags go off?

I was getting mixed opinions on this and more stated that I dont need the modules, bags can be reset with a computer, even the dealer can do it.

You CANNOT reuse air bags, all deployed air bags must be replaced. Not all airbags go off in the event of a crash either. It all depends where the car was hit, how hard and if there were passengers. Its possible the BST (battery safety terminal) located on the B+ of the battery cable triggered. If thats the case it needs to be replaced. |

^+1 click sounds like a dead battery. make sure you fully charge it - check the color sensor on the battery to make sure it's still good. you can also check the production date - I had to replace my battery just recently because CA was too sporadic.

Yeah the car been parked for a while, so the old battery died and I bought a new one few days ago.
It shows a flat front tire, which I fixed but still shows up on the dash. The dash also shows airbags light, and service needed, which is probably related. Could that be the problem? Last time Ive checked the car should start no problems. |
