The next new M3 engine?

Will this be the engine in the upcoming M3s? It's a twin-turbo V8!

Provided that its is lighter and will not suffer heat soak from track use.

bmw is all about efficiency, the twin turbo v6 in the next m3 certainly correlates with their business model. Further, given that it is an ///M, they aren't looking to sacrifice any power when getting rid of two cylinders. Further, from the rumors etc that I have seen, the next M5 won't be getting the V10 either. Porsche 911s use a flat six (with different variations of course), which is perfect evidence that you don't need/ have to have a 8 cylinders in these size cars to get tons of power... ESPECIALLY when you slap two turbos on the engine [these are just my thoughts/ opinions of course...]

the current V8 doesn't have the torque or tuneability of their standard 3 series turbo inline 6 so how would it be a down grade?

If they use a twin-turbo I6 on the M3, how will that distance itself from the 335s?

^^^ Very True ^^^

BMW has a dilema on their hands right now. Unless they keep the V8 and boost it, and keep the V10 in the M5 and boost it.

Maybe thats why they went to the single turbo motor now on the 335's?

twin parallel turbos, not twin sequential, if that's what you mean, yes.

As far as going to 260hp, no.
It's a twin scroll single turbo and it produces just as much horsepower as the current twin turbo engine.

I agree with those saying it'll be some form of forced induction i6. It could be twin scroll or twin turbo, but most likely larger turbos than whatever is in the 335, or maybe a larger displacement engine, or both.. Or hell, Borg Warner makes the turbos, they might as well plop down the change for a VGT.

The M division maximises every ounce of power in their engines. Few others are able to get the HP vs. liter ratio they get.

Imagine what the M division could do with a Twin Turbo I6 and all those $$$ resources.

I wouldn't mind a TT v6 that's more tunable than the standard 3. We need something to differentiate ourselves from the regular 3!
