Special Order Options

Has anyone had experience with special order options, such as deleting the sunroof on an E91, for instance? It's an option in other countries, but standard here. I would guess that BMW maintains a hard line on sticking with the program for US-bound cars, but other manufacturers will do about anything for a price such as custom colors, etc.

Unless the car has been crash tested with/without sunroof you won't find that option here.

So I'm guessing that getting the 335i Touring is out as well? I already know the answer to that one

BMW also offers a cloth seat option for 3 series in European markets. Is that out as well?

Your best bet would be to find a CA that has ordered cars using the "BMW Individual" options. I've read that Adrian Avila of BMW of South Atlanta has ordered "Individual" cars for folks. You might try contacting him. It is pricey though getting "Individual" options - but I'm sure you are aware of that.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check into it when I get closer to a decision. As for the comment on crash testing with or without a sunroof, does BMW crash test 3 series sedans with and without? I'm not sure that this is the case.

On another note, when do sales of the current 3 series wagons stop? I know that the F30's are due out sometime late 2011/early 2012 and that the touring variant will not be offered. When will BMW quit taking orders? If I bought one, it would definitely have M-sport, manual transmission, and no I-drive, which are pretty hard to find on a dealer's lot.

They test both versions. The sunroof is a vital part of the test.

That's not "pretty hard" that's "impossible" to find. I have one just like that on order for a client.

Do you know when BMW will quit taking orders for E91's?

Someone on here ordered a 335is without sunroof, so it may be possible. The option code he used is ZDM, I would ask your CA if its possible.

"is Sunroof delete an option?"

"Yes it is. I deleted mine last week. Code is ZDM"

The 328i coupe can be ordered without a sunroof, so I guess that both versions have been crash tested. Not so for the wagon according to one of the posts above.

Correct - both have been crash tested.
