What do you guys think? E36 M3
I'm thinking about buying this as my daily and wanted to know what you guys thought of the price. I'm doing a long distance buy so it's sort of sight-unseen.

I'd never personally pursue a salvage titled car unless it was going to be a track only vehicle.

Id stay away from that. Had a very bad experience with a salvaged 89 honda CRX about 15 years ago.... Sh!t Id run away if it were me.

Do you think at that rate I could make (at least most) my money back from it in 10 months or so? |

I asked to run me through mechanical problems since the accident and he said just an evaporative code. He's driving down from Michigan for me to see the car so I feel like he has more reason to be honest if that makes sense. |

The guy is driving it down on Saturday and getting it inspected for me at his dealership up in Michigan and bringing the paper work down. He's sworn up and down there is no frame damage and no mechanical flaws. Should I trust this?

I would buy it only if I was keeping it because I knew it was good and it was cheap and I was not worried about resale value. Salvage title may affect resale value also, which affects your flip plans.

I want to keep it for roughly a year or a little more, I'm probably buying for around $7,250, so I feel like I might not get that back out of it. |

I never agree with this guy ^ but I do today.
Salvage? 1997, 70k miles (miles are not high from a relative stand point 1997 but are high from absolute stand point ).... the cost will not stop after you buy it. Walk, no run away... |

Agree with others and emphasize that your market size for resell will be reduced by 80-90% as the vast majority of people will not even look at a salvage title car (hence the reason there is so much effort made by some to wash their title like this guy hints at in his ad). Also, you may have issues insuring the car depending on the company.
Run. Away. This salvage title M3 is WAY overpriced and cannot be compared to non-wrecked, clean title cars. There are plenty of nice E36s around with clean titles -- be patient. Example: 4 months ago a pristine, garaged since new, original owner 98 M3 sedan with 115k miles showed up on craigslist locally for $8000. If you want to flip it in a year, spend up and buy a quality car that will have buyers lined up to take off your hands in a year instead of a tainted, wrecked salvage title car that will have very few potential buyers.

I'm not sure about 10 months, but you actually might be able to make money off an E46M if you buy one now and sell it maybe 2-4 months later.

Thanks for the advice guys. I want to listen but I don't at the same time. I guess every circumstance is different and my family has had a salvage before with no problems whatsoever so I'm a little unbiased towards them.
Mostly worried about getting rid of it in a year without losing my pride and thousands. |

salvage cars in socal are going for around 5 grand and even then no one buys...if you are comfortable with selling it for 5 grand in a year...worst case scenario imo, then go for it. if u want to make money on it or get even money, i wouldnt buy it salvage..keep lookin, tons avail

no wonder the price is so low for the mileage
I am pretty aware of the pricing of E36 as I am also looking for a E36 daily driver. Yea...stay away from salvage...
