▀▄ eas | Awron development - new features!

Been keeping a bit tight lipped about some new and exciting things from Awron lately, it seems we got a little Xmas gift early this year.

Here's a couple of new features coming soon:

For those not familiar with the Awron digital Display system, please see our thread here: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1014367

- "Delete-R" feature: Firewalls CEL lamp from appearing on instrument/iDrive display, perfect for those running catless downpipes or piggyback devices that do not have CEL clearing, or for those that simply are not interested in a tune. User selectable on or off at the touch of your steering wheel button.

- Exhaust Flap Control: Finally, end-user control of your exhaust valves from the steering wheel controls.
  • Auto: OEM operation
  • Always Closed
  • Always Open
Features are flash-updatable via the integrated USB port for existing Awron users once testing has been completed on our end and the green light is given. Testing the exhaust flap control now and have to say, it's pretty awesome in combination with the Akrapovic Evo system and ER catless downpipes.

More to come.

Very nice. The price point is too high for me to justify it.

Very excited about these new features! Now i have to find a way to update my unit, I can't get the AWRON tool to install on my computer. Do you guys know if there is anything special or will you have a file you would be able to send me to try?

Nice! My gauge should be here soon, so will this be pre-loaded, or will I have to update it when it comes?

Can I get specs (OS, 32 vs 64bit, etc)? We can always try a Teamviewer session if you continue to have trouble.

New firmware has not been released yet, we're doing final checks. Once released, I can send a copy your way.

Looks like I got the tool running on a Mac with a Windows 7 32 bit partition, I was being an idiot (couldn't figure out how to load the drivers)..... The only options I have in the tool are to change the language, units and speed units. Is this what I should be seeing? Also, a file for the new firmware once everything is checked out would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help in advance Tom!

The config tool is for E-chassis Awron units only. F-chassis do not need the tool as this is already integrated within the gauge.

Pressing up on the steering wheel control as seen on the video at 1:50 and holding +3 seconds will activate the configurable settings.

Dang you guys! I was hoping it would be months before the delete-R function was available. Now I'm going to have get downpipes sooner. This thing is awesome! My wife is going to kick me out of the house if another UPS box shows up.

Awesome gauge! Perfect for ppl with downpipe and no tune or a tune that can't clear the CEL.

Are people getting this gauge on leased cars? Is there a used market for these?

Quite a number of M3/M4s coming in for work are leased. The Awron is a simple 5 wire connection in which no cutting or splicing of wires is needed.

We have a detailed installation guide at this link:

DIY: F8X M3 & M4 Awron DIY Installation Instructions
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1017936

As for resale value, the E9X gauges seem to hold their value quite well on the used market due to the simplicity/integration, its rare we even install analog gauges anymore.

More info later today.

Question: does the delete function clear the CEL associated with a cat delete, clear all CELs, suppress the CELs or just make it so the light doesn't turn on,? Or something else?

For the exhaust flap control,
Does this work on the stock exhaust with no further wiring or modification?
Only install the awron and that's it?

Checking on specifics, will report back once we get enough data on this.

Since it's CAN based, no additional wiring is needed - it uses the factory commands to operate the exhaust flap.

Here's a quick video of the exhaust flap control in action:

There's also labels on the display to let you know which mode you are in (open valve or closed), which adds a nice touch to the overall functions. I'll add the video into the opening post.

Thought of another question: since I was lazy, and had you guys install my Awron, I never saw it uninstalled....where exactly is the USB port?
