Question Need advice on lease vs. finance deal on '09 328xi coupe

Hi all,

I've been shopping around in the Boston area for an '09 328i xDrive Coupe. I previously thought that I had negotiated a decent price @ roughly $1500 over invoice...but in browsing these posts, it looks like I should be able to do significantly better... I'd greatly appreciate any advice on this!

The car is an '09 328xi cp w/ cold weather, prem, sport, auto, CA, nav, Logic7, etc.

MSRP - $50275
Invoice - $46265

Question 1: Talking to multiple dealers (and working up from invoice), the best price I came to was $47775. Is that a terrible price? Should I realistically expect to get a better price?

Question 2: I'm weighing lease vs. finance, and the finance deal I've been offered is $2000 down, 36mos, 10k mi, $645/mo...($24600 total). These numbers were based on the same selling price (47775). Is there any way to talk the lease monthly payment down?

I'm leaning towards leasing because I typically don't keep cars more than 3 yrs anyway, and I'd rather have the extra money available for investing in other ways. (Even with current 1.9% financing on this car, monthly payment would be ~$850)...

Like I said, ANY advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Look at the other two posts in this section, there are some others looking for a deal in the Boston area. Go to Herb Chambers Boston and ask for NIck Lagas. He gave me the best deal, and I did alot of research. Whether you lease or buy: Start with negotiating the price. Then, if you lease, ask about money factor, residuals, etc. and see if it works out. I leased, and for what its worth, I negotiated about 3-400 over invoice on my car. Good luck!

Answer to the Question 1: The price is higher , 500 over invoice would be fair !

I think if you are buying, it may make sense to consider a low mileage used 335i.
