E93 Hard top gets stuck

Hi Guys,
This is my first post here at E90posts. I recently bought my 2007 335i convertible. I did not have any issues in the beginning but now the hard top gets stuck before it detaches from right above the windscreen. I have to punch it a little bit for it to get off and then rest everything goes smooth. Can you give me an idea what the problem could be?

Nik

It's not one of a myriad of sensors- perhaps the roof pistons or some other hardware needs to be adjusted.

In any case, like the brother above me mentioned, you should definitely go to the dealer if feasible- you don't want to tinker with that fickle hardtop yourself.

I had a similar problem where the roof was struggling to disconnect from the windshield latches too. When it finally came loose it popped off way too fast.

I just sprayed the latch and hinges with a bit of WD40 and it's been fine for over a year now. Give that a shot before you go to the stealership

^Either that or a broken wire/poor connection which is not allowing the latch to detach properly.

I would bring it into the dealership, just to make sure nothing else gets fucked up.

Definitely clean and lube the latches and the whole roof actually to keep it functioning smooth, there is a good how to over on bimmerfest about it. If that doesn't do it, it probably needs a bit of adjustment at the dealer.
