Steering wheel alignment

Hi guys,

I have a question for you. When I am driving my car and going straight, my steering wheel is turned just a little bit to the right side. By a little, I mean 10-15 degrees or so. If the road is inclined, the angle changes a bit, but overall, I've noticed that I have to turn my steering wheel a bit to the right side to drive straight.

I though that this was an alignment problem, but I just had it done two days and it did not fix the problem. What can it be?

I have a '06 330i with sport package.

Thanks for your help!

Where did you have it aligned? if it was the dealer they should have picked up on this. Any other place (i.e. pep boys generally misses the steering angle) in either case just take it back and have them fix it, most places have a 30 day warrantee/adjustment period.

The dealer will fix it for you! My dealer took care of mine free alignment, for the first 2000 miles.

Straight as can be.

Hi guys, thanks for your input. I had my alignment done at a BMW dealership (Erhard of Farmington Hills). They have replaced the power steering rack, thus did the alignment. What puzzles me is that if I let the steering wheel go, the car drives straight and there is no pull to either side. However, the steering wheel is not 100% straight. Is this related to alignment? Thanks a lot!!!

The alignment is clearly on spec but the steering collum is clearly off a spline or two. Take it in and make the tech drive it. They will have to essentially reinstall the rack.

e90 rack has alignment holes in the rack ends so that the rack cant be off a tooth or 2...the bolts go through the curved portion of the shaft sticking out of the rack thus the hole wouldnt fit if it was off...
