Check out an article here on MotoIQ to get Billj747's impression of the software on his E90M3:

Some more important quotes:

"With a maximum gain of 29 whp and 24 lb/ft of torque, the ESS E-Flash tune improved the performance of our highly-stressed S65 across the board with the OEM cats and mufflers still in place. For a simple tune, we should now be at ~440 hp at the crank, which is the same power as the 4.4L M3 GTS! (BMW’s answer to the 911 GT3)."

"This (Trans) software upgrade is a MUST HAVE for any DCT owner and it’s how the car should have been programmed from the factory..... If I had to choose between the transmission software update and the 24hp gain from the tune, I would choose ESS’ DCT programming over the extra power any day of the week....."

Question: Can I purchase the sc software separate since I have the e-flash cable from my previous tune? In other words, when I sc, and I need to purchase the tune, how much will the software alone cost since I have the hardware? Thank you sir.

Only if the cable is originally from ESS. Other tuner cables are not compatible.

Recent dyno of 2008 E90 M3 with ESS E-Flash.

Modifications
- ESS E-Flash Software Tune
- RACE X-Pipe (no resonators or cats)
- Megan Muffler

Keep in mind we're still on 91 octane in CA. Gains are consistent from 4500+.

Maybe its a 64bit issue? Wont let me install the cable drivers for shi* and when i find the drivers manually it says its been tampered with or the hash is missing etc.

WIN8 is a little tricky as the driver signature enforcement used needs to be disabled. Here’s an article that overviews the process:
http://www.fotoclubinc.com/blog/how-...-on-windows-8/. Once disabled, the E-Flash program can be installed.

FAQ has been updated.

So even if a 93 tune is installed and I decide to track it I'm going to have to fill up with race fuel to be safe? Would using 93 on a 91 tuned car be just as safe?

The software will adapt to the fuel you run. Better quality fuel will net better performance and more safety during track use.

Remove the V13 E-flash from your computer / desktop and load this new version to replace it.

Just to add, keep the E-Flash cable plugged while install E-Flash so the proper drivers are loaded/retained.

Nothing is working. I tried a number of times loading up the software with the E-Flash cable plugged in and tried plugging it in after the update and it isn't installing the drivers.

What could it be?

Uninstall the program fully, then reinstall with the cable plugged in. If you are still having issues, I can remote in to see what's happening.

I recently purchased this tune and have a couple questions regarding some of the options.

I ordered a full SuperSprint exhaust system at the same time as I bought this tune. The exhaust is coming out of Italy so when the tune arrived I decided to ask for two versions, the first to run for the few weeks on my stock car until the exhaust arrived, and the second for after I install the exhaust.

I asked for increased rpm on both, and the exhaust one would need cat delete, as well as tune for the exhaust.

I received two files back, the first being the upgraded engine software and the second being the tune. There was no description of what the files contained, as well as no acknowledgment as to my request for two separate tunes.

This in itself frustrated me, I feel there should be a description of the files sent, along with what the tune file is modified for. This would be nice as a double check that you got what you asked for and there were no miscommunications between you and the tuner. This is an expensive car and I want to know what I am loading into to. The email sending these files should be more professional, even with something as simple as starting out with the recipients name, along with "here is the tune you requested with xxxx features..."

Enough about the email. So I replied to the sender and asked what I was sent. I also asked about the two separate tunes I requested and the reply was not what I was expecting. Apparently my request between a stock car and a car with a cat less exhaust does not require any differences. They advertise it like they want to know what exhaust your running, but now that I have bought it it does not actually matter?

The other part I am not really sure about is the cat delete cel function. I was told that the tune detects whether there are cats and clears the codes as necessary. Does this mean the tune is clearing every code all the time? Or is it monitoring for only catless related codes and clearing them. If it is clearing all the codes how will I know if there is actually a problem with the car? I hope this is not the case as I would feel very mislead after reading the website description.

All in all up til this point I am not very thrilled with this tune/product.

If you have questions about our products you can always email or call me direct. Our NA software is designed to work with or without primary cats. There is no need to run different tunes. If you run cats the software will set all standard emissions monitors and your OBD system will work as intended from the factory. If you remove your primary cats our software will automatically keep your SES light for increased emissions from coming on. Your OBD emissions readiness monitors will not set if this is the case but the rest of the OBD system will work as normal.

440 HP & 260 tq on software alone?? if this is true i will buy this in a week.
I have stock x-pipe with ACM rear muffler and want a ESS Tune but i want more power.

Will the software be more powerful in HP alone than a Catless system?
I ran a Challenge catless before no tune and the power was great but it was dam to noisy for me to handle as a daily. I loved the power and seek for it again but this time without any sound changes. Will the tune provide 440hp and 260tq?? I want to see a dyno please!
