I thoroughly recommend having it done if your engine is feeling sluggish and it's got a lot of km's under it's belt.

$495! I could have driven to and from Sydney and would have been cheaper than getting it done up here in Brisbane.

75000km's

JB4 for a short stint

short distance to work (15 min drive). casual driving with some spirited driving on a weekend.

intake and exhaust mods only besides the JB4.

Much luv and thanks to STUART from BMR and PETE from ADVAN! The service is unmatched as is the value for money by far.

Feedback for you guys thinking about getting this done,

After picking up my car it feels 'crispier' on the throttle. I didn't feel anything major on the bum dyno, but i would recommend that you all do it to keep your engine fresh.

It's like going to the dentist and getting a good clean

60,000km

Been asked by a lot of customers about when they should do a carbon clean,
from what i have seen from 60,000km is the answer.

Solid price, shame I'm Melb

Do you have a contact for the walnut shell media? I'm struggling to find anyone that sells it as I'm about to DIY.

ebay?

i've been wondering - would soda clean it up? (carbon'd valves that is)

been looking at a soda blaster for various activities.. could be too soft though?

The only result on Ebay is for extra coarse shells, according to the BMW PDF guide floating around they recommend medium/fine shells, 20/30 to be exact.

Just grind the coarse shells with a cheap grinder? (coffee bean grinder for instance)

Soda blasting is great for soft/delicate items, albeit I wouldn't want that in the combustion chamber due to the reactive properties of sodium bicarbonate (having said that it would only be a small amount....) that's where walnut shells are recommended as it easily burns off during the combustion proces and is extremely soft and wont score the bore or cause any components to corrode etc

I'm also sure the walnut shells would be slightly more abrasive to help remove carbon deposits, but i can only speculate as i haven't used either medium.

you're meant to blast with the valves closed anyway i believed? with a decent vacuum attached to it as well

i know the walnut shells are much harder than bicarb, but whether or not it would matter for this job?

i have more general uses for a soda blast setup, so just curious - if soda blasting would work, i'd get the machine sooner hah

Had the pleasure of seeing this thing in action today (on another customer's 1er). The results were fantastic.
