Shortest Carfax I've seen: 2008 E93

I am looking for a 335i convertible and found a 12k mile, loaded, 2008 E93. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

However, the carfax of it is extremely short. http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...&partner=COO_0
That is, it even doesn't record any service nor any emission inspection that SHOULD have occurred in the past four years.

Basically this carfax tells nothing. Any thought? What extra attention I should pay for this car before I buy it if I decide to? THX

"Carfax prints out a report of the services REPORTED TO CARFAX"
If this person is a DIY or went to a local shop or whathaveyou, it wont be reported to carfax. I would ask to take it to the BMW dealership, pay the $130 to have it completely checked out, and have them tell you.

A solid PPI > a CarFax report.

When I sold my 3, not all trips to the dealer were reported on the CarFax, even though I was on top of scheduled maintenance and took care of it through the dealer (including warranty service). My car had been involved in two accidents (one moderate, one minor, both on driver's side) and that wasn't in the CarFax, even though it was handled through insurance and certified BMW Collision Centers. Don't rely on a CarFax. Use it as a starting point, but pay for a PPI at a shop that is well-acquainted with BMWs.

Carfax are only good when it shows something like an accident, if is shows an accident your 100% sure it was in an accident. If is shows nothing or very little there is no guarantee it is accurate at all. I did a CarFax on a car I was selling and I know I had an accident and I turned it in to insurance too but had a local friend body shop do the work not the dealer and the Insurance company cut me a check. Guess what the car show as being clean even 3 yrs after I had the car fixed.

So only trust Carfax if is shows something otherwise it worthless. My experience is similar to others that is for sure.

Carfax is a scam, and serves only to artifically inflate or wreck used car values. They are out for themselves, period. It really is garbage, no lie there!

Carfax is a guide. It is good for knowing if the car has a lien against it, the in service date, how many owners and mileage discrepancies. It will not show you the whole picture. For that a PPI and proof of service history fills in those gaps.

I'm not sure what you expected to see, but this is pretty standard information for a Carfax. If no accidents are reported, then it won't show. Missouri does not require an inspection on a car less than five years old, btw, as someone mentioned.
