2011 X5 LCI Aero Kit DIY pics included

Couldn't find a DIY for the performance aero kit so I'm putting one up. This is a 2011 X5 50i LCI. Overall, it wasn't very difficult and beats paying the dealership to do it. It was well worth the time and effort. I'd also recommend using the pic on realoem.com to give u a diagram visual of everything.

Note: this install does not include the rocker panels. I'm keeping the running boards on.

First 6 pics are before shots of the front and rear.

Next
attach the entire front mounted part to the carriers using the sheet metal screws. These screws will screw into the c-clip nut that you placed on the carriers prior to attaching the carriers. At this point the front of the aero kit is complete.

The rear is a little more challenging because you have to remove the original bumper trim panel

to remove the original trip panel unscrew the two screws that hold it in and remove the blind rivets with a plier or a pair of scissors. You have to kind of get under the rivet head and cut it and then push the remaining part up and out.

Once the you have removed everything that attaches it, begin to pull the trip off of the bumper. There are several bumper tabs that you have to pull out. Use a little elbow grease and don't be afraid you have to give them a good pull to get them out.

Before you pull it off make sure to disconnect the park distance control if you have it equipped. The last pic shows the replacement of the PDC before you replace the new bumper trim panel.

Replace the old bumper trim with the new one. Before you push the bumper tabs in turn on the truck and make sure everything is connected correctly.
push the tabs in and replace the screws ONLY. Do not replace the blind rivet at this point. If you do you will have to take a trip to a dealership to buy two new rivets!

Once you have the bumper trip panel in place and secured minus the rivets attach the trim cover piece. It has tabs that snap in easily. The last pic shows the trim cover in place.

Next attach the left and right cover moldings. This might require a helping hand. With this piece you will now add the rivet which will secure the molding, the bumper trim panel and the existing trim on the truck. Secure the moldings with 3 fillister head screws as shown.

Next attach the bumper side section mount on the right and left. Place the c-clip nut first. Attach the side section mount to the cover molding using 2 fillister head self tapping screws as shown. then use your remaining fillister head screws to secure the mount to the bumper.

The following pics are post-install. I tried to wash it quickly before it got to dark for pics. Hopefully this can help someone else who is thinking about doing it themselves. If anyone has any questions PM me. Peace!

Looks great! The eyebrows aren't my thing though. I like how the kit on the LCI looks closer to the aero kit on the E53
