First of all. I'm running on Toyo R888.
So i got a low pressure for my tire last week Wednesday on my rear right side. I went to les schwab to have them pump it up right away. It was only 2 psi down from normal. I also asked the guy there that is there a nail in it or not and he said no. Then last night! I look at the tire when I was waxing my wheels and I was like wtf! This is not normal. Tire got flatted twice in 1 week (I don't have tpms). Went back to les schwab again today morning and found a nail in it but they couldn't patch it up due to the camber wear out on my tire or something like that. So I went to another 3 local shops and they won't do it too. I made my last stop at discount tires and they agreed to patch it up for me. Once they took the tire off the wheel. They were like "we can't do anything with it for u. Your tire is too damaged that its not repairable". There was a shit ton of rubber dusts or whatever they called it inside of the tire as well. It look pretty bad. So my options is 1. Buy a whole set of Michelin super pilot (they have it in stock but I would have to change all 4) 2. Wait 7-8 days for my Toyo r888 to arrive. So I went with second option coz I have no money!! End up putting some loaner tire on the car abd towed the car home. Not gonna have my baby to drive for a week. That fuckin upset me |

What??! Can I say, first world problems? This happened to me today. I had the $390 tire protection plan for 5 years, and nothing happened. Now, at month 76 (yikes I've had the car that long??), screw in the rear left. I'm plugging it myself on Sat. It was not driven flat so it will do, until I get my Pilot Super Sports. Now I'm not so sure about the Ultraleggeras anymore, baby on the way.

My point is: if you buy a car that puts you in such a dire situation that tires put the ride one the sideline, then you should reconsider ownership or possibly getting a (or another) job so this situation doesn't occur again. I would expect a BMW owner to be able to afford tires. I respect that you're going back to school but I think you should first make sure that your financial situation is buttoned up.

I only have 15,000 miles on my car and I have had to replace the front 2 last year and I am going tomorrow to change the rear 2.
At least Micheline is covering 40% of the rear tires...they covered 50% on the fronts.

Not true.. If you own a 328i and do half the work yourself its pretty cheap.. I also don't run runflats and either do Kumos or Falkien.. They are about 100 dollars a tire.

Could be worse.
Had to buy 2 new Michelin Super Sport tires today because I had 3 nails (2 of them in the sidewall, so no repair possible). $642 without mounting and balancing....great. |
