To me it's just common sense....do whatever you want to your car, who cares what anyone else thinks? But I reserve the right to honk or flip off anyone who practically comes to a stop every time there's pencil in the road.
Personally when I see a car like express705 posted I just shake my head b/c it look ridiculous to me - and my car is lowered. |

so I guess 911s or corvettes are not road worthy? there is an exec at my company that has one and I've heard him scrape when he goes over them b/c they are ridiculously high. his car is stock.
that said, I agree that "slammed" cars look silly...lowered can look real good but as a daily driver that would get really annoying. my mom doesn't lecture me, since I'm an adult...I presume many of those complaining on this thread, including the OP, are not yet there.

FALSE. i can make it over just about any speed bump given the right angle of attack. however, when speed bumps look like this, then there is a problem. |

Actually, I have a 135i that is lowered 1/2 inch on BMW Performance springs with Koni shocks. That makes my ground clearance 5". I don't have to slow down for speed bumps any more than a stock Accord or Camry does.
My previous car (RX-8) had 4.7" ground clearance, and I again did not have to slow down for speed bumps any more than a Camry. |

Slammed cars look stupid. Am I the only person who believes the wheel arch / gap should be parallel / equadistance all around the wheel? Yes... You can lower your car but you gotta maintain that parallel gap!

Ok, so here is my car. The back is actually higher now but I have no issues driving like a normal driver. I mainly changed out for KWv1 to get an upgrade over the stock xi suspension.
I thought this was too low and I raised the back up about .75" to improve ride comfort and handling characteristics.

Regardless of what anyone will say there are different benefits to lowering the car (dependent of the stock height). In my case, I didn't lower simply for looks. I kept on adjusting based on what handles the best. The stock 335xi coupe even outfitted with the sport package had sub-par handling for what I was used to in a BMW, especially after driving the rear-wheel drive model.

Let me get this straight, you "constantly have to slow down, change lanes, sideway speedbumps/ ramps, go around potholes." And you're wondering why people beep?

There is nothing wrong with modifying the car just for the looks, if that is the owner wants. Poser or not, people do like whatever look they like and if they choose to go for it, no problems in my book.
I agree with a few people above that said the parallel distance/line between the wheel and the fender has to be kept. If it is lower on top and wider around the bottom, it looks ugly to me. And yes, I would also not like it if someone ahead of me is crawling over a small speed bump just because they went extremely low. |

Yeah, nothing wrong with lowering your car. Just understand that not everybody else will agree it makes it look any better than a non-lowered car. But certainly you shouldn't get any hate for it, unless you give off an attitude that you are better than those who dont slam their cars too.
