Question Fair selling price?

Trying to sell my car pvt and was wondering what a good list price would be. The car has had countless issues, including making a noise they said they fixed when they had the car for a week which included replacing the whole transfer case and a wheel bearing...still making the same noise.

I want to get into an 09 A4 CPO but a trade in of my bmw is 21k

Its a 2008 328xi coupe Black/black nav, leather, heated seats, sun roof.

47k miles, 16 months CPO & 16 months Maintenance left on the car

For those of you who will say keep the car...

i bought it cpo 6 days later needed 5 taillights replaced, headlight assembly replaced, lifters and 2 cylinders replaced (ticking noise), wheel bearing replaced, DRL replaced, entire Transfer case replaced.

Not worth the headache after the warranty getting into a car and waiting for the next error light to pop on the dash.

You may want to look at Toyota instead.
09 A4 is not much more reliable than the car you have.

I agree with you sentiment about "waiting for next light" and it is frustrating. It is same thing with me my car always have atleast one problem (most time just minor annyonace). As somone who also owns an older honda Civic sometimes I feel like my 335i is too much work for it is worth. Anyways do not get an another German car if you are getting tired of all the maintenance...good luck.

I think the audi cpo is better than the BMW cpo and i also think the car i got is just a bad car and unlucky. The A4 had all issues fixed if any and the car has 2 1/2 years left on CPO and only major maintenance is at 65k miles, the bmw maintenance is useless for me since i wont need anything besides oil changes and air filters from now until its up. I drive about 10k miles a year so thats really it.

I'm not asking if i should do it but how much i could get for the car pvt sale.

thanks

You SHOULD get at least what Audi's worth + some change...
Will you...that is another question...

Again, Toyota is your better option since you just go to work and back and whatever "and thats really it"

You're getting rid of your BMW due to reliability concerns....and going to Audi??? That's a bold move.

As far as selling price, that largely depends on the market in your area. Check Edmunds and AutoTrader (or even Craigslist) to see what comparably equipped cars are being listed at in your area and use this as a starting point. Just remember that listing/asking price is not the same as selling price.

yea thanks...as far as audi... i had an audi for 3 years and beat the hell out of it and didnt have one issue and this bmw i baby and have more problems than ever. I realistically want 24,500-25000 for it then swap for the audi for like 2 grand.

I am on my 3rd BMW, not beating it, but driving aggressively...
Only trips to service were the maintenance things...

Sounds like you got a friday or a monday build, I have an A4 at my shop right now that blew the timing belt off and destroyed the engine, he's looking at 5K just for a used engine. Good luck.

I know you are just looking for a price but just thought I'd share.

He should have looked at the User's Manual and Maintenance requirements...

If you do "upgrade" (?) to a used Audi, perhaps pay an indy to do a pre-purchase inspection.

You can check prices on KBB, NADA and Edmunds; you can also check "completed listings" on eBay you can see what cars like yours actually sold for.

Toyota camry looks suitable for you! Bought one brand new in 2005, STILL haven't opened the hood for anything more then an oil change or topping off fluids.

Realistically, a 2008 328xi, loaded, with prior mechanical issues, is probably only gonna get you 18-19k I would think. I'm not going to be that guy hating on you for getting an A4, I think they are excellent cars especially if you want AWD. That being said, they tend to have issues as well and I think you need to factor a few thousand for maintenance if you plan on keeping the vehicle for a while.

My buddy has 06 A4 with about 75k....no major problem, but it burns oil pretty bad...I had 08 A4 with 26k miles and zero issues.

not saying Audi is any better then BMW...most German cars are about the same.
