e90 Sedan Water Leak Into One Headlight Every Carwash

I am having water leak into one headlight every carwash. It takes a week or two to go away. So this is not simple condensation.

I think I may have found out how. I clean the wheel well on the passenger (right) side and there is a missing cover in the inner fender liner. I have attached a pictures below.

Have I got the right spot?

I think it is part 8 or more likely part 9 on this diagram.

Is this flap for changing headlight bulbs?? I am guessing the pressure water jets get water into the headlight assembly.

Do you know what that white plug in there is? Is my theory correct that water is leaking in through there. Although the flap is slotted to let air circulate I am hoping it will prevent at least a direct hit into the headlight like is happening with the missing flap.

Nope. I once had an entire fenderliner missing. That's not why your headlight is leaking. It's much more likely that the headlight is damaged lightly in some way where water can get through.

I was using a pressure washer from self car wash and cleaning wheel well. So maybe that makes a difference? It only happens on carwash and not in rain, from my experience so far.

Also the headlight was replaced before, so maybe the part is under warranty?

Was the headlight replaced with an OEM one? Or aftermarket? Cheap aftermarket headlights tend to leak a lot more then OEM.
