Has anyone seen a speaker location diagram for the F80/F82 similar to this E92 one on musicarnw.com:

HK system is probably same as for the F30/32, I would think? Have not seen anything on standard system.

I hope the HK is comparable to the Individual Sound System on my e90.

9 channels, 13 loudspeakers
• 1 mid-range loudspeaker, middle, 100 mm
• 2 treble loudspeakers, front 26 mm
• 2 mid-range loudspeakers, front 100 mm
• 2 bass loudspeakers, 217 mm
• 2 mid-range loudspeakers, rear door, 100 mm
• 2 mid-range loudspeakers, rear shelf, 100 mm
• 2 treble loudspeakers, rear shelf, 26 mm

Intermediate has this:

6 channels
10 loudspeakers
• 2 treble loudspeakers, front 26 mm
• 2 mid-range loudspeakers, front 100 mm
• 2 bass loudspeakers, 217 mm
• 2 mid-range loudspeakers, rear, 100 mm
• 2 treble loudspeakers, rear 26 mm

And bog-standard e90 is

4 channels
6 loudspeakers
• 2 mid-range loudspeakers, front 100 mm
• 2 mid-range loudspeakers, rear, 100 mm
• 2 bass loudspeakers, 160 mm

That system was $1,900, though, in 2008 (at least on the M3)!

It was £1435 in the UK, so comparable, and the sound is superb.

It is superb at high volumes, but I find at normal volumes the much cheaper HK in my ML sounds better. I'm hoping this HK will be as good.

I haven't heard the F3x sound system, and I'm basing this on my old e46 M3, but I'm really not expecting anything at all from the sound. The biggest improvement in sound quality will come from deadening road noise, which is inversely proportional to weight.

However, I wish the BMW's would use the kick panel for the mids. It's such a good location, and if the original speaker was designed for it, it could sound fabulous.

I'm betting BMW will make a super cheap stock system like they did with the E9x M3 and then only offer the high end system above the stardard 3 series upper system.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
