Ummm... Back to the I8.

Any thoughts if any of the tuners will take a stab at tuning the 3 cylinder turbo? I really hope so.

Good to hear Yea, I can't remember the last time I was at a medical conference and people were happy with their job or practice. Yes, I do know people, personally, in virtually every single medical field as that is part of my job (I think you were being sarcastic there, but I couldn't tell, so I am clarifying). I actually can't think of a single field I don't personally know someone in. That's networking for you I guess.

As far as happiness, I think Derm is the only exception, and a couple subspecialized ped (ped onc and ped neuro).. In any case, I bet the people that are doing quite well have already been practicing a while. Med income is the opposite of everyone else- just goes down over time.

His grandparents have paid most of his way through school (LUCKY!) and he was forced to get a new car when his 2002 Mustang finally died. He wanted something "sporty" and the best thing he could swing was a VW Golf...and he said he won't be able to afford anything nicer for a good half decade. Medicine is LONG path to stable, in-demand employment not a get rich quick plan. Engineering on the other-hand is a fairly quick path. My chemical engineering friends were making $120k+ straight out of college, maybe $50-60k in debt thanks in in-state tuition.
Exactly.. if you pick any specialty that makes more than average money, you will be training for a long long time. Add on a fellowship, for 1-2 years. And it will take you a long time to catch up to your friends that just went into software after a brief stint in grad school.

Easy there, Tiger.. No one is crapping on your dreams. If you want to be a doctor, fire away. It's quite clear many of us here are, and speaking from experience. What we are clarifying is the naive comment that you can be a practicing doctor and own half a million dollars in super cars. That's like someone in high school football trying to tell an NFL star about what its like to play at the national level - just the voice of hopeful youth.

It's great, we all here support you and hope everything turns out.. Don't get so aggressive or think we have you "pinned down" or make otherwise hostile statements. It's great to dream (I dream of owning a Lambo) but another thing to say you are going into medicine and equating that with a garage like that. Like I said, unless you are not going to practice (going into the MBA side or JD side), then there is no way, even if your parents pay your way through college and med school. Maybe you might be able to afford one, if that's the only thing you buy, live in a tiny house in a bad neighborhood, and if you are single.

Anyway, in regards to the i8, what I really want to see, is the successor to this car 5 years down the line, when the technology is more mature. Should be awesome.

I know of someone who will be tweaking these in Cali.

Also, lots of folks talking about medicine. i would say to anyone, pursue your dreams. If medicine, don't do it for money, do it for the right thing. If you are good at it, success will follow so you won't have to focus on that.

another pic of the i8 dripping wet!

I've been told DINAN got their hands on one and promptly said "NOPE" to tuning it. Something about the engine already running 25 lbs of boost, how turning up the voltage on the front motor screwed with the electrics/battery, and how they were not capable of adapting or writing their own software to keep the two modified drivetrains in sync. They already need to use a standalone custom ECU for newer M cars and would almost certainly need to use a couple on the i8...and then there is the prospective market. How many of the already small pool of i8 buyers are going to buy it? Something they have to invents hundreds of thousands and years of software development. Heard Steve Dinan on a podcast where he said it took well over a year to get a conventional turbo BMW where they want it in tuning, imagine the development of custom software for the i8, that interacts with all of the OEM buses and systems.

Well, I went to med school bc of interest towards physiology and medicine in general. Helping people is rewarding, but wasn't my main driver.

There are numerous easier way to make money than medical career. But there's nothing wrong that you may earn some dollars. The harder you work, the better you come. And, like in Formula One, the best players in the business get the highest earnings after all. The busiest years meant me 140 nights (16-24h shifts) a year in a hospital. Add there shorter shifts for leftover weekdays and there you go.

Went quite far from i-cars

All this talk about what doctors can afford is cracking me up. I imagine most doctors with one income would have trouble justifying so many large purchases, but some make plenty of money to "afford" such cars.

Furthermore, you stack a successful partner, and it becomes not that much of a stretch. People can be so myopic.

I only know two doctors well, and both could afford these cars by the time they were in their mid forties quite comfortably.

I do have a white 458 Italia. Wasn't a huge Ferrari fun but a non-red Ferrari caught my eye. Great car.

The Huracan is absolutely gorgeous in Rosso Mars, wish I could own any of these two amazing cars. Looking forward to more footage of these two in the near future on your Youtube channel

Back to our regularly schedule program. I am not sure how we got off on the training tangent but... after 3 months of ownership, I couldn't be happier. I have been a hardcore ///M enthusiast forever and worried that giving up the F10 M5 for the i8 might turn out to be a mistake. There is a place for M and I will still buy those cars in the future but I also LOVE the i8. man, its so good in so many way!

Here is my winter mod so that I can drive her in the snow... yeah, videos will come.

The winter tires are Blizzak LM-32 on style 444 rims. Different look but really good.

How much did you pay for the winter wheel package and how long does it take to get it. I am in Chicago and cannot drive the car comfortably right now, so I have less than 150 miles on the odometer. It sucks.

I bought the wheel and tire package which is $1k per corner. They are pretty hard to come by but allows me to drive. Here is a quick vlog I did a few days ago in the "Snowmaggedon" we had here on the east coast.

The winter wheels look a lot like the "flower power" wheels on the 2005-2007 6ers.
