Thinking about 335i, what to know?
Hi, i currently own a e46 m3 and its being sold this friday so i was thinking about a 335i. im thinking about a e92(07 or 08) MT if anyone has any advice about buying a 335i, for example what to look for, what to know about 335i's in general, or maybe BAD things about 335i's etc. I dont know much about the 335i, i just know the basics about them. So if you could help me out. Thanks guys

fuel pumps can go bad, but the warranty on these have been extended to 6 years and 100k miles.
These cars can be heavily modded, so I would be wary of private or non-cpo cars. If you buy it cpo, you should be ok as any modifications would have been ideally caught and cleared by bwm. If you buy private, I would ask the owner if they have done any mods. If they say yes, be wary of what mods and for how many miles. If they say no, I would still look over for possible modifications to FMIC, down pipes, exhaust or piggy back. If its private, no matter what, I would bring the vin into a dealership and ask them to see if its warranty is still good and not been flagged as modded with a voided warranty.

awesome choice! From all the info that ive seen and from driving both, I believe 335i is actually more powerful car than e46 m3, by a slightest bit. however, 335i is NOT a track beast like your car...
if you get a 07 model, make sure it has the oil coolers (2 metal valves crossing horizontally in front of the engine) as some earlier 07 models do not have them. sports pkg is a must. please, please get a CPO, as there are too many 335i that were driven like it was stolen. too much risk with private deals. when you do look a CPO, make sure you thoroughly read the carfax and see if it had any issues. ASK if the car had HPFP failures. make sure the tires are new or at least 3/4th tread is left. if not, it is not CPO standard. when you get the car, dont believe the stealer (dealer) telling you extended warranty is over 3000. they should be under 2k! I'll add any other things that comes in my mind later but its late now and I will be going to bed! good luck. |
