It's definitely deeper, but I haven't heard it from outside the car yet (if you know what I mean - so it's hard to tell!)
The OEM 1M axle back that Stu installed on his 135i (120d) has been modified.
It has had the baffles removed and the canister internals redirected.

I installed this unit on my 1M some time ago, hooked up to the N55 mids.

It was actually quieter than my OEM unmodified axle back.. I removed it after a couple of hours, so I can understand why Stu is not 100% happy with the exhaust tone.

The quad install and mod on the other hand is awesome and if I had a 135i, would do this in a heart beat as it looks awesome and OEM.

The 135i charcoal canister bolts up to the 1M battery box, but you do need to disassemble the pipes and fittings, relocate and shorten them then reassemble the pipe work to the canister and reinstall.

It all looks OEM when done.

If this was available in Melbourne I'd gladly give up my N55 135i and my wallet to have it done. If the exhaust note is as aggressive as the BMW 135i performance exhaust, I'd be all over it.

good shit stu!

i like the choice of outer quads rather than inner quads too. accentuates the cars width much better.

Not sure if OEM support bar and hangers would be easier or cheaper, it seemed easy enough for chris to weld a piece of metal onto the exhaust and then insert it into some sort of rubber hanger.
hm fair enough - if it's easier, cheaper and just as good, obvious choice lol

the other big thread on it and the people doing it WERE mostly in the US (LHD) and weren't sure if it was needed for RHD

I put a 1M exhaust on my 135i about 3 weeks ago. I did it will all OEM 1M parts. It came out to a little over $600 for the OEM parts (heat shielding, battery tray, battery cables, new exhaust hangar bushings and rear bumper support bar.) of course you have to factor in the cost of the exhaust unit and have a custom diffuser fabricated.

Your exhaust looks great and that is a good idea to cut the pipes to fit an exhausting quad diffuser.
did it need any of the 'fuel system' stuff? or just the tray/cables/mounting and other 'obvious' stuff?
Hey

The Evap canister itself is the same on the 1M and 135i. We needed 1M Evap canister hoses to connect to the relocated position of the canister.

The hoses are more like tubes which do not flex much and you risk cracking or pinching off the flow if you bend them.

Do you guys even have to have the Evap canister in Australia? I know a lot of regions do not.

Everyone should try to get slek or some small CF manufacturer to make a diffuser that can accommodate the 1m exhaust and bolt up to an MSport bumper.

I'm amazed... Nice work. But for the parts can you tell how much $$$ you have spent for parts?

Sweet...thanks for having the gonads to do this mod...gives us all encouragement to do our own special things that may not make sense.

I'm sure there are places in Melb who could do this!!

Being in Europe I'm sure you could get the parts much cheaper, here it's a little over $1k AUD for the parts excluding the 1M exhaust and excluding labour.

If you can find a cheaper diffuser it'll be cheaper again.

There's another thread like this over in the main section of this forum:

Looks pretty similar setup to yours Stu. It goes into some detail about battery leads and steam pipes as well.

But why 2, when you could get 3!!!

Regardless, whether 2 or 3, you would need someone to fabricate some kind of custom rear diffuser and I don't think they make centre exhaust diffusers yet.

Only two little pipes for that big 8...

Must be the sepo's attempt at fuel efficiency...

" if it can't get out... Means less needs to go in"...
