Help a lady 1addict make a calendar shoot :)

Hi all,

My name is Bonnie and I've been a 1Addict since November. Here in the NW, Speedware Motorsports has started a calendar contest for the local ladies and their cars. I entered and now I need all the help I can get to make the calendar because I am a latecomer to the contest. I think there is only one other BMW entered, and although I don't know the owner, support for both of us is appreciated!

1 Like = 1 Vote

Let's get a 1 series in the calendar this year! Thanks!

Was I the only one here who clicked this hoping it would be a swimsuit calendar?

Good luck Bonnie!

for Chewy, and the other professor-fans:

I would have voted for your photo if the rear-end of your 1'er wasn't cropped out of the frame. :\

Take it up with my photographer lol. I was a bit bummed when I saw that he had cropped out some of the car. But, beggars can't be choosers. He was nice enough to help me out, so I'm not going to complain
That being said...

Happy? This one didn't make the cut due to the lighting issues...

Actually, that one could have been saved with some pretty minor adjustments. It's a shame that the photog had no clue. Like you say, beggars can't be choosers.

Next time, you might show us a few images before entering them and we can suggest some easy ways to improve them. That's what this particular forum is about. Some of the guys here could really make your shots more dramatic.

Oh I know. I'm a multimedia student I will probably fix that one up for myself. I kind of let him make the decisions. Maybe not the best idea...

A crop and adjusting Shadows in LR would have helped a good bit. I'm not sure about the choice of background. I would have gone either more "industrial" or much less. As is, it's ambiguous and I think to myself, "Is that what she was looking for, or was that the most convenient parking lot?"

As a multi-media student, you'll need to take charge of projects to clearly show your vision. People will expect it from you and, even if it's someone else's project, you'll need to retain some major control. You want people thinking you're a media perfectionist, not "she's easy to work with." It's not too soon to start controlling anything to do with your image or images that you produce.

Good luck.

Dave

Most people underestimate the difficulty of finding a nice background. I guess it depends on your location. But I went out one day to shoot my car and i figured i'd hit this one spot and be done. I must have hit 5 locations and wasn't happy with any of the results. Of course thats part of the learning curve.

Now i look at places as i travel around contemplate where other cars and people will be, which direction the sun will be shining, if there is enough room to put on a long lens, etc... and tuck the good spots into the back of my mind.

You know, in case i find the time to shoot the car again in good back grounds.....

You know, the more you do it the better you get. Once you get in the mode of always looking, then you'll see something and think, "that'll be great in the early morning, or when the lights over here, or when it's overcast, etc., etc." then you go back to it later with something in mind.

When you wake up one day and think, "I'm going to shoot my car" and then start riding around looking, almost nothing seems to work as hoped.

Totally. We did this on such short notice and the weather was wonky. It would pour and then stop and then pour again. And it was so windy. I was super frustrated. The place we were going to use was all shut down for the evening so we had use the ol drive around method. The glass plant in Woodinville was all we came up with.
