How much would car insurance cost for me?

Hi,

I'm currently 15 years old and I live in Quebec, Canada. According to the laws here, I'll have my probationary license when I'm 17 and in my last year of high school (grade 11) and that's when I'm allowed driving alone legally.

My dad is planning on purchasing a 2011 335xi Coupe with the M Sports Package and when I'll be able to drive (in 2 years), he'll give the car to me and put it under my name.

The question, if not obvious enough, is how much would it cost per month or per year for car insurance if my dad puts it under his name? Me and my dad would be the only ones in the household.

Thank you in advance,

A lot. Call your insurance agent or get an online quote if you don't have one. FWIW I'm 22 single male clean record and pay about $1800 a year for an 07 E90.

I call . Aside from being a inflammatory topic, OP also writes too well to be a 15 year old. Commas in the right place. Apostrophes in the right place. Descriptive clauses ... no way!

Just look at the 16 year old versus the 15 year old ...

Sorry, but the kiddies don't learn that much in one year!

The username is also too funky...

Sorry, but I wasn't born yesterday.

It doesn't mean BS, it simply means I'm doing good in English. I really don't know why someone would make a BS thread such as this. I'm just trying to gather up some info ahead of time so I can determine whether to get a second-hand car or take my dad's.

I'll give you props if your dad gives you the car. Chances are he'll like the car and let you drive it as his son, which is what most parents do.

If you lived in Florida or California or somewhere in the Northeast of the US...I'd buy it.

Ask your dad...if he's willing to hand over a 65-70 K car and i'm sure he'll cover your insurance.

It's probably his second language.

Do whatever you can to get your hands on that car, just be careful, if i had that car when I was 17, i wouldn't be alive. 90hp corsica was enough!

You're not even old enough to on the internet...

As for what it costs, there are a thousand different variables so nobody will give you a correct answer here. Just go to school and listen to your pops, and he'll take care of it.

Also, dont drive it, you're going to wreck it.

Easy guys...he seems to be well mannered, respectful and mature.

Like most people said, insurance is going to be ALOT for a 17 year old male, with any car.

This is an "unpossible" question for anyone but your insurance person to answer. Most people on this board are from the US, so they are clueless about Canadian insurance rates (or the Canadian school system - that actually teaches proper grammar and spelling - often in two languages.)

That aside, there are way too many variables and - in the US at least - your insurance rates can vary greatly depending on which block of a street you live on in addition to the usual driving record, age, marital status, garage and the like.

You can understand two languages? That means if we ever chose to invade that Arctic shell you call a country, you guys can surrender to us in both English and French. French being the preffered language for surrendering. You might have a kick ass education system but we got some kick ass weapon systems and we all got guns.

Damn in just a few seconds I turned an insurance thread into laying down the ground work for the invasion of Canada. I’ll call it “Operation: IcyHot aka Case White Part II: Ice Blitz ”

I am from Toronto and when I was 18 and I bought my integra my insurance was 400 a month. The insurance rates for a 16-17 year old driving a bmw 335 or any bmw for that matter is going to be high.

Like most people said, call an agent or do an online quote to get a rough estimate

Your dad is buying you a $50k car, why do you care what insurance costs?

Tint tickets don't affect your insurance.
