Brake light on the dash question

Hi guys,
About a month and a half ago, the Yellow "Brake" light went off on my dash.
I had it checked by the dealership and they said the front pads and rotor needs to be replaced.
I checked the pads myself and it looks like it still have life so it was odd to that the warning went off at about 50k since I never did track or autocross with my car. It must be by design.
A local shop told me to keep driving it until I can see it rubbing against the rotor since I have to replaced both the pad and rotor anyway.

So for the time being I started looking for pads and rotor replacement and still haven't decided which way to go, OEM or Akebono.
But about two weeks ago right before I put in my winter set, the yellow "Brake" indicator disappeared from the dash.

I guess my questions now:
1. Was it a false alarm? Do I still need to replace the brake?
2. Do I possibly have a bad Brake Sensor since I kept driving it without replacing it?
3. Will the next time it comes off again will be the RED brake light which means I need to replace it now? Haha.

Anyone has the same experience in the forum?

Thanks guys.

you can go into your setting on the dash with the bc stalk and see how many miles until your pads are due. If it is in (-) miles or past due the brake light will come on or red. There are no false alarms, if the light came on, something is going on.

unless something your brake pad wear sensor came off that would cause the light to go on but if im not mistaken it would be red

Yep. That’s all about there is to cover on this one OP. My yellow brake light just came on like 50 miles ago, I’ll be ordering new pads front and rear tonight. BC says I only need front pads, but may as well do it all at once. Rotors should still be OK but I’ll check those as well when the calipers are off.

Thanks for all the reply, guys.

The thing is the "brake" light is no longer turned on anymore. It's OFF now and I haven't replaced the pads and rotor.

It was probably ON for about a month and it was yellow and not red.

That's what make me

Should I replace them or should I wait?

What's your current mileage if you don't mind sharing?
