Agree, M always makes these cars far better than the last. They know it's their Champion Halo Car in the performance world (reputation wise, not pure power as M5, M6s would be). They simply can't F&*k this up.

I will add my two cents. I was in the same predicament whether to wait for the new generation, and having bought 10 days ago, I have zero regrets. The gas bill is astounding but worth every penny. That V8 is pure joy. Take a test drive and if you are anything like me, it will be hard to get out of that car and imagine a 3-4 year wait before you can use it every day.

I'd pick up a CPO E92 that already took a big depreciation hit, that way by the time the new ones are out you can sell it and make out a little better.

^This. I digress, but the 3 Series is BMW's "bread and butter" car, they cannot afford to screw the new model up. Likewise, the M3 is the M division's "bread and butter" car, so they cannot afford to mess that up either.

Just take a look at the F30 3 Series pictures/commercials. I saw an advertisement for one the other day and I mistook the car for an E90 at first glance. I did a "double take" and realized it was an F30. Very conservative.

Back on topic, in my personal opinion I would go ahead and get the E92 (or E90/93) now. I think the E90/2/3 M3 is absolutely perfect.

It would be worth it from the experience point of view, what I mean here to drive in Germany and to experience the magic of the BMW facility "Die Welt, the Factory and the Museum" On the other hand if you lease a BMW you be best off to a) find one at a dealership so you do not have to wait for re-delivery after a ED. and b) do the German tour, however, rent a car or get a German RailPass combined with a car rental at major rail stations.

UPDATE; Since the date i've posted here in this thread I've changed my mind about a ED delivery for the following reasons; a) hate to wait 2 to 3 months, b) have done the Germany factory / museum tour in 2009 and c) found the 2012 M3 at a dealership just what I was looking for and purchased the car took delivery 1 week after purchase.

My next trip to Germany will be by RailPass due to the extremely high fuel prices in Europe. My M3 will be parked safely in my garage while I take that trip, this way I've got no worries about small streets in Italy and worries about where I park my car

I will drive my M3 as a daily driver. When my cayman S lease ended, I was looking at the 370z. My woman asked me, "do you want to be a kid and drive a rice rocket or do you want to be an adult and drive an m3"
