iDrive systems in BMW-5 series

The BMW 5 Series sets the standard for premium sport sedans and, in recent years. Introduced in the United States for 1972, the midsize 5 Series has long offered a near-perfect blend of performance, luxury and interior room.Among luxury cars, BMW's 5 series is invariably high on the list. The current 5 Series is by far the most radical. On the surface, it incorporates bold styling cues that depart from BMW's traditional styling language established over the preceding four generations. Inside, a system called iDrive corrals audio, climate, navigation and communication functions using a central LCD screen and console-mounted control dial. iDrive is cumbersome to use, although it is more sophisticated than the button-heavy layout in older 5 Series cars.

I am convinced most people who use computers do not know what they are doing.

Something as simple as a deleted shortcut on the desktop means the application was deleted by most.

BMW, Audi, Mercedes all assumed buyers would be computer savvy. Since they were wrong they have been dumbing down car controls to compensate.

I expect all the buttons to reappear on the dash.

Good job American education system!

I am also amazed that most do not know what bluetooth is. I see countless new luxury cars from BMW, MB, Lexus, etc. on the road with bluetooth and the driver is still holding a cell phone to their ear. This is not an iDrive issue. The same people who cannot manage their finances do not know what they bought.
