Need help figuring out rim/tire config
Hello everyone,
So before I start getting flamed, yes I have used the search tool and spent countless hours trying to figure this out. I recently got a '11 e92 328i LCI RWD with ~33k miles. I have the style 338 rims (225/45/17 with 34mm offset and 8" width), but I'm not really feeling them. Since I will need new tires soon, I decided to upgrade the rims as well. I like the Avant Garde m359 style rims. The only issue is that I cannot figure out the configuration for what exactly to buy. I do know that my e92 has the m sport suspension though, not sure if this makes a difference or not. So I am interested in 19" all around. Could someone please tell me if this is possible and the exact configuration I would need all around so that my car is usable as a daily, no rubbing nor extreme low profile. I am even more confused in regards to the tires. If front wheels are different from rear i.e. 19x9 vs 19x10 or the offset is different, does this mean I cannot rotate my tires? Since it is RWD, is it a better idea to get wider in the rear with directional tires (so that I can swap side to side by removing off the rim) or same width all around so that I can cross-rotate between front and rear axles? I apologize if this is confusing. My main goal is to get 19" m359 (not feeling the look of 18") and if it possible to have a reliable, daily setup with them. Oh and I am hoping to put performance all seasons on them, not summer tires. Please help me figure this out and thank you in advance! -Vitaliy |

If the fronts and rear are different sizes you cannot rotate them. The sizes posted above are your best bet if you want staggered. If you plan on lowering the car the smaller tires (235/265) would be easier to fit with modification.

No you cannot rotate front to back but you can swap front left to right or right to left and do the same to the rear - this helps eave the wear imposed by your wheel camber. As far as tire and rim and aspect the below URL is a good tool. If you go with a low offset you are going to rub on wider tires. You should be good with 265/30Rs in the rear and 235/30Rs in the front with an offset higher than 30. I had not problems here. When I went to the set up I have now...problems due to ---offset and tire size. Rubbing even with a fender roll - not lowered - stock height.
