E92 328i SP

I just bought an 09 328i E92 with Sports Package. Living in Indianapolis, I clearly need a dedicated set of winter wheels/tires. Does anybody have any recommendations? I would like to keep runflats on the car. From my research on the forums it appears there are Pirellis that will allow me to keep the staggered sizes, but I'm willing to give up a little bit of performance if it makes more sense to just move to a 225 tire all the way around. I'm leaning toward Blizzaks but wanted to see what everybody thinks.

1st off you should have posted this in the wheels/tires thread.

2nd Tirerack carries blizzaks that work with the stock staggered 18"s. With the low profile staggered size, tires are not cheap. $185 and 245 for front and rears. I highly recommend you go with a winter only tire.

First, you shouldn't run staggered winter tires. Keep them all the same size.

Second, how bad do the winters get where you are? If not too bad, then you can go with a "performance" (always sounded counterintuitive to me) winter tire like the Blizzak LM25. But if you do get frequent and significant snowfall, I'd suggest something with more bite like the Blizzak WS-60.

We would recommended minus sizing to 17" for winter use on this car using a 225/45R17 tire size on all four corners. There are handful of wheels we carry that will clear the brakes and work well. Two of the more popular choices have been the Sport Edition A7 and Rial Salerno. For maximum winter traction, consider the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60. For more of a balance between winter traction and dry road handling/cornering, we've had very good experience with the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D and Bridgestone Blizzak LM25.

I'm running the Dunlop Wintersport M3 DSST (runflat) winter tires on dedicated Beyern rims in the same configuration Gary recommends. I wanted runflats because I cannot carry a spare, and this tire was highly recommended. We get significant snow here in MN, and these tires are awesome. Excellent deep snow performance, as well as on dry pavement.

hello, i am in the same boat as the OP but i live in Boston. Can i fit 16s on my car without any issues? i kind of want to go smaller than 17 bc i plan on driving up to the mtns alot and i figure i could use the extra safety margin. thoughts?

Yes, on a 328, 16s are standard on the base model, and make a good choice for dedicated snow tires and wheels. This is what I ran on my E46 in Boston, Borbet 16" alloys with 225 width Bridgestone Bizzacks from the Tirerack.

1.) I have 2008 335xi coupe I need snows to go on my factory upgraded 18 sport wheels.

2.) I also need one blizzak to replace a blown one on my JCW Mini cooper

3.) I thought Xi couldnt have staggered fitment i.e. wasnt offered from factory....but I believe that is exactly what I have 225 front and 235 rear I think

I have a similar winter wheel/tire dilema having just purchased a 2008 335i Sport package car. As the car has OEM 18's with 34 & 37 offsets can I use a 17" wheel on all four corners with a 34 offset or do I need to find 17" wheels with staggered offsets?

If I can use 17" wheels with the same 34 offset, do I or can I use different tire widths and profiles front & back?

What's the best recommended combo?

All help is appreciated...

I just purchased a used set of 17" Sport Edition A7's for my 2007 328 E92 with sport package and the rims are the same all 4 corners (not sure specific offset measure) despite the staggered OEM configuration. They were previously used on a 2009 335 E92 sport. Given that, I would definitely keep the same size winter tires all around also so you can rotate and wear them evenly.

225/45/17 seems to be the ideal size winter tire although my wheels came with Blizzak LM-25's in 205/50/17. While I am surely giving up some dry grip with the narrower tire, there is heavy snow in my area so it might work better. Plus I found the entire set up for $400 with a couple thousand miles of use, so I'm not complaining!

If I were buying a new set, I think Rial Salerno's look better than the A7's.

Yes, just go with 225/45/17 all around. I did that on my staggered oem 17" 194M wheels.
