Style 220 Wheels and Anthracite Grey plastidip?
I'm wondering if anyone has seen this combination before? I want something a little different than the polished bright look of stock, but I don't care for the completely black abyss look of having them all the way blacked out. My coupe is black and wondering if the contrast would be enough to look alright.
I was toying with the Metallic Anthracite Grey because it looked ok on some Audi's I've seen. Anyone seen this on the 220 wheel or have experience with this color? Here is a pic of it on an Audi

Finished the dip, so I'm resurrecting this post. Figured I'd post the pics in case someone else like me is thinking about Anthracite on the 220's. This is with 5 coats with extensive cleaning and pre-dip spray treatment, no glossifier.

I got my ZCP wheels done in polished Anthracite and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Dark enough to match the carbon fiber pieces, but not jet black to where you lose the detail.

How does this hold up to cleaning? Takes a bit of scrubbing to sclean brake dust - how does it hold up to a little scrubbing?

Thanks for posting this thread - I have 220 wheels with a jet black car and I want to go darker with them - can you post more pics of the whole car? Thanks.

It depends on what you use. I am using mainly just soap/water. There are cleaners that work fine with it and won't mess with it, and there are others that can be slightly too abrasive for it. The guys at dipyourcar.com recommend BDP (Brake Dust Professional), which smells like rotten eggs mixed with lemon, but seems to work. I use that after regular soap. I think Meguiars is generally regarded as safe. I believe you want to avoid gasoline spills on the wheel and stuff like that, but for the most part it's pretty tough. I did 5 coats, so it's pretty thick.

Here are some more pics. The drivers side front was on a jack when these were taken so it looks a little weird in the front, but should give you an idea of what the whole car looks like with them.

These look pretty nice! I was thinking of having my 220s sprayed in a glossy gunmetal.

How did you do the M badge and wheel center caps? I just ordered the gloss black kit from dipyourcar. I've watched his videos but he doesn't mention about the M badge or wheel caps.

Have you thought of getting your wheels powder coated or are you wanting to try the dip first. I have seen dip in person. Up close it is so so at best. But from a distance it does look good. |

The center caps pop right out and he probably either masked the M badges or peeled them off and replaced them with new ones when he was done.
