06 cayenne turbo vs. 2010 x5 4.8

A friend of mine is interested in getting another SUV, his ML350 lease is up, and hes thinking about purchasing this time.

What is better...a used 2006 cayenne Turbo or new 2010 BMW X5 4.8?

I suggested new x5, but thats because i dont like used cars, and the old cayenne looks ugly compared to the new one.......so im biased... just wanted to know what you guys think -Howard

I agree. I think if the two cars were closer to the same year, I'd lean towards the Porsche.

The Porsche is fun but if hes going back to an 06 to get one hes better of with a new X5.

maintenance of the cayenne turbo could be rape if no warranty. its 100k plus SUV to begin with. this is always what people should look at when buying a used car.
just because a 150k car costs 40k used, doesn't mean its parts will cost the same as a 40k car.
What is his complete budget over the term he is going to own the car, and how long does he plan to have it for?
I prefer the look of the x5 overall compared to the cayenne.

Wrong. The MY2010 X5 still has the 4.8i. The MY2011 X5 has the 50i.

I agree. The cost of operating/maintaining a Porsche is outrageous.

Get new. Do consider the X5d. It's awesome. Fast and lots of torque. Love mine!

The LCI X5 has the 50i version, not more the 48i one...
In Europe the LCI X5 is a 2010 model because the current year is 2010..
There are a lot more advantages/ updates available for this LCI X5 compared to previous gen of Cayenne, even Turbo..
