I have a Parrot Mki9200, It cost £170 with all cables and I've set it up to play audio through my aux socket.
Bluetooth for calls (iphone) and with the included screen and controller, its easy to go through the music.. Even shows up the album artwork on the screen. Running it through the aux socket in the armrest is the way to go though, bypassing the integrated Parrot bluebox amplifier and instead using the cars head unit amp and volume controls (inc steering wheel vol control). Bit of a bitch to fit and get right but if you need any help, give me a shout! The only downside is that you can't use the steering wheel controls for skipping tracks and making calls on the iphone unless you have the UNIKA box which i think is another £70.. Edit: Just read that you already have Bluetooth fitted to the car... This could still be used and you could just use the Parrot for playing your music. It comes with an ipod connector, an aux plug and a USB port to play music through so for the money, i think its a really good system Last edited by mccoy; 07-20-2012 at 07:04 AM.. Just another question on this, my cars an 07 with Idrive, aux and usb ports in the glovebox. If I buy the bmw cable, can I control our Ipod from the Idrive/steering wheel?
At present, we are just using a aux cable and selecting playlists. |

Only if you have a USB port under the armrest in the centre console. The USB port in the glovebox cannot be used for this.

Then I think it should work. Did it have 6FL option specified?

Then you are in luck - 6FL is the option you need.
Get a y-cable and away you go! I actually have one lying about that I don't need anymore - was about to post it in the for-sale section if you are interested |

Just did a quick search on old classifieds and they seem to go for about £20 posted, which seems about right, I think I paid about £45 for the dealer for it

Update, I cant get the Idrive to recognise my Ipods.....
I have tried a prehistoric white 30gb Fourth Gen, a 160gb sixth Gen and a third Gen Nano. Any ideas? Are the batteries too low? As the Nano showed a message on its screen of 'connected, OK to disconnect'?!? |

Is it not appearing in the list of external devices on idrive?
I previously used an 2nd gen nano and an old first gen touch, it didn't seem fussy about what was connected at all |

does the 6FL option not charge the ipod for you?
i'm trying to work out the viability of getting 6FL installed in my car. I need to keep this car for 3-4 years and having this would certainly make it easier to live with day to day. When i'm with my girlfriend its easy enough to get her to change the ipod tracks, but when driving solo, its a pain. I'd like to be able to control it through i-drive! |
