Of course they are; after waiting for 2 years I just had Bilsteins and Eibachs installed as Koni insisted they "would never build a strut for an X drive car"...

I haven't driven the car yet as we're in Hawaii on vacation. I'm told it "looks great" but will defer until after the 25th when I pick the car up. In my M3 that's what you do with the konis, gut the strut and replace the cartridge. It looks like the 335 X drive option from Koni is a replacement strut, same as the Bilstein.

so what is the general consensus on lowering?...i have a 328xi e92 with a few years left on my warrenty but want to upgrade to 19"s...possibly m6 type or something different...i dont want a 4x4 stance if thats going to happen...so whats the best way to lower the car to standard i height(or even less just to get rid of the 4x4 look) for the minimal cost without worsing the ride(is possible making it drive better) i been reading to many dif opionions on the topic i dont wanna spend 2k lowering my car an inch or less honestly dont think its worth it especially if it makes my ride worse then it already is(potholes are killing my life)...i posted this else were just want as many solid answers as possible

Pictures of Dinan Suspension at work

Someone asked for some pics. Here's a Dinan Stage 3 suspension on a '09 335xi going out of turn 8 at Watkins Glen. Every instructor that rides in this car is amazed at how smooth it rides without rattling the teeth. Great daily driver that is a blast on the track.

Pictures of Dinan Suspension at work (part II)

Resized a couple of more shots. One is right before the apex at turn 8 (off the brake, barely on the throttle); and the other is coming up the hill out of the Toe of the Boot starting to really get on the throttle. These are at Watkins Glen too.

The Dinan stage 2 suspension is offered in a XI/xDrive-specific application that reuses the OEM front struts. It consists of custom-valved Koni adjustable rear shocks, performance springs (front and rear), rear sub-frame bushings, bump stops and a rear sway bar.

To my surprise, the ride quality is an improvement over stock -- no more tooth jarring pot holes that sound like their causing welds to fracture. It handles imperfections in the road surface with grace and remains firmly planted during aggressive turns.

I'm comforted by the fact that this suspension system wasn't available in 2007 when I originally took delivery of my XI. Otherwise, I'd regret not having purchased it day one!

I just picked up my car from the dealer with the Dinan Stage 2 suspension...I have to agree with the review here. I was suprised by the drop - Dinan claims .5 inch all around, which I thought would not be noticeable, but this does give the car a 335i sport stock look, which I really like (mild drop, nice sportier stance). I was also very suprised on the corners - car stays flat, neutral, which was amplified even more after driving the 335D loaner (non sport). In short, not cheap, but a huge improvment - completes my ride by a mile. Anyone on the fence with the dinan stage 2 suspension - go for it! BMW needs to start selling AWD with sports suspension!

I'm seriously considering this because my 09 335 XDrive coupe crashes hard at every pot hole in DC. I want to get a different car because the suspension on this car is both harsher and handles worse than a 335d loaner I drove without sports suspension. Can you tell me, after installing Dinan stage 2:

- How does the ride quality compared to non-sport e90/92?
- How does the handling compare to non-sport e90/92?

I'm actually less concerned about the handling. It's impossible for me to go over 35mph in the city without running over an ipod jogger. The harsh ride is starting to piss me off - had dealer look over the shocked and they said it was fine, I've got 32k miles now.

The DINAN ride quality IMO is improved over stock - no issues over pot holes, speed-bumps etc. Just a better firmer ride without the harshness.

The handling is far superior to a non-sport - it is subtle by nature but the roll and softness is gone, the cornering is very planted (no juts or movement), noting I'm driving on a square wither set-up. I fully expect an even greater improvement once I bolt on my summer set-up (staggered OEM). This is a pricey upgrade (2500 OTD) but it shores up the only minor issue I had with the 335 x-drive - no sport suspension. This solves that for sure - essentially thicker rear sway and springs.

Thanks for the feedback. The ride quality was just fine until I moved into a city and I'm feeling the pot holes with my entire body. Considering the sales tax rate in DC, it would actually be cheaper to do get the DINAN suspension than to get a new car. Decisions...

Dinan Stage 2 Review

I did a stade 2 upgrade, and wrote up a short review also:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381791

Btw: I also live near DC and suffer those bone crushing potholes even with the new suspension.

Does anyone have an opinion of how KW-V3 coil overs stack up against Dinan stage 2, and also any opinion concerning use of a camber plate, (so Dinan stg 3 vs. KW-V3 with camber plate).
So far, I have found some instances of Dinan camber plate with kw-v3. However, I still would like some more validity on the topic.

For what it's worth, my concern refers to a 2008 335xi that I am looking to upgrade with Dinan products such a stage 3 SW. The car is to be a daily driver, hence the choice for AWD but I do want it to be packing.

My car is a 2012 335i X Drive. I have Dinan exhaust system, Dinan Stage 2 suspension and a Dinan Stage 2 computer flash and Bridgestone Pole Positions in 255/18 mounted on
Enkei PF-01 Race wheels. It rides great, it handles great and goes like an ape after 2500 RPMs. I'm averaging 25.3 mpg town and highway. Stick shift. My last car was a 2011 M-3 competition model with twin clutch. My cars are drivers but the M-3 was impossible in the winter, I mean impossible! Couldn't run in rain nor snow, even with snow tires!
My X Drive was beautiful all winter long. I could drive anywhere where was a road.

I've got 1 2012 335i X drive running the Dinan Stage 2. 18" Enkei Race PF01 wheels with Bridgestone Pole Positions 255/35-18 all the way around. Great ride and handles beautifully!
