Wheel brand opinions

Just wondering what you guys think are some reputable wheel brands. I know BBS and HRE are up there (strethcing my budget on these) and so are the jap brands (Rays, Work, Enkei, SSR etc) but I prefer the euro styles as the M3 is a euro car. It definitely has to be forged as I want it to be as light as OEM if not lighter and stronger. What are your thought on BC Forged? I just find it hard to trust something made in Taiwan (no offence). Any other brands? (Don't even mention ADV1)

Just get Rays...its not like BC Forge or any other of the shit or even HRE (which, im sorry its just not at the level BBS/Rays/Enkei is at, they are better quality than the Chinese junk but thats about it) is "euro" style...there isn't a "euro" style anymore even the best BBS wheels are made in Japan like the BBS LM-R and the BBS RI-D. If BBS and HRE is stretching your china BC Forge budget then just get Rays.

People who refer HRE to the same level of BBS/Rays needs to learn about what actually goes into making a wheel and the company behind it..lol

I would go with Rays, Work, WEDS, or ADVANs and be done with it. These wheels range from cast to forged and for the price they are hard to beat.

I would just save for the best ones instead of worrying about getting something lesser.

I agree with pretty much everything above but I do have more respect for HRE. The only things I would add is that there are some things that make HRE more appealing than BBS/Rays. HRE makes custom wheels. Custom meaning that the customer can specify the diameter, width, offset, and finish/color. BBS/Rays don't offer the same level of customization. As far as custom wheels go, HRE is arguably the best (or at the very least one of the best). As far as racing pedigree, HRE has some but not nearly as much as BBS/rays. As far as forging process, BBS/Rays are the best.

Great wheel... price is fair (for what it is), light, looks good, sizes and offsets are decent... but there are some limitations. The rear offset is too aggressive for a 295mm rear tire in the proper diameter (295/35/18 or 295/30/19). Not a huge deal in the 18" version because there are very few tires available in 295/35/18. The front 9.5" et22 wheel will require a 3 to 5mm spacer if you have KW coilovers and run 275mm tires (my preference). They do make an et15 version but I think that is only in the TE37SL but I'm not sure.

youre right! but with my 18 inch set up, +22 all around, i was running 268/35/18 front and 285/35/18 rear with no problems at all!

Based on your signature, you do not have KW coilovers. Your JRZ's have more inner clearance. 265/35/18 on 9.5 et22 will also require spacers with KW's depending on the tire (some tires run narrower/wider). In the rear 285/35/18 works great no matter what your suspension set up. The offsets are spot on for running 285's. I just prefer to have the option to run 295's because I'm optimistic that some of my favorite tires will be available in 295/35/18 in the future. None of this is a big deal. It hasn't stopped me from buying TE37's (have had 2 sets in the past). I just point it out as a weakness / FYI for the OP.

haha yea i dont have any experience with the KW's but forsure with the JRZ RS dampers with swift spring set up, theres alot more clearance and you can even go wider with the tires, as long as the brand you want to go with has the sizes you want! hahah but yea this is my 2nd set of TE's, in the same exact set up... but good to know that youll need spacers for the KW's. ill be going KW clubsports for my next car just to save me that hassel of rebuilding JRZ's how i want it to...

I love the BBS CH-R on E9x and they are very affordable. Unfortunately they are also heavy. I don't know about this HRE badmouthing up there but I couldn't have been more impressed with my HRE P40S and the service of HRE as a company.

I'm an HRE fan. I love their SC monoforged series for a street wheel. Custom fitment and finish. There are a lot of players out there, find a style you like that's in your budget and do some homework.

BBS LM and LM-R in 19" and above are actually made in Germany. None of the jap brands (that I know of) make a wheel that looks similar to this:

Refer above.

Its not a question of price so much vs meeting my needs.

Exactly. If im paying 5k for a set of wheels, I expect to be able to customize it.
