The green agenda is so big at bmw that they forget why people buy bmw in the first place.

The sporty image is all forgotten.

They pull back 2 teams out off wtcc.
No F1

So no factory teams only schitzer does 2 m3 in the german VLN

It s more and more out of the racing scene. In a few years bmw is nothing special anymore it wil be just an other green car maker around the block. And most of us drive secondhand porsches just to have fun in driving.

This is getting more and more OT but I rather see BMW pull out of races then losing money where they would be better spent on develop our cars.

Myth,

Blue and White is an inverse image of the chess-board pattern in the Bavarian Flag (blue and white checkers in opposite order since a company was not allowed to use the flag in its logo). The propeller myth started as a marketing ploy by the company several decades ago.

Oh yeah, thanks for the great feedback Scott2x! Look what this thread has turned into now.

It is not the bavarian flag represntation either. I have the history at home from the BMW museum in Munich. I'll edit this once I get to it. Sorry for the OT post. Scotts fault.

SO we have 3 pages of posts, and no direct answers from Scott?

Yes, I saw the links--thanks to the helpful posters who found that, but come on! Wtf? Who starts a thread like that, then never responds?

So confused.....

Also, the post about the timing being off--I agree with that as well. It just doesn't make much sense.....

One of many references to the Bavarian Flag, not a spinning propeller. Besides, BMW had their logo before they started building aircraft engines:

It goes way deeper than that article. I have pics of the display at the museum. I believe it predates 1917. I'll have a look and start a new post lol.

You can better go in search for porsches. I think before the M1 shows up i have turned into an old man which can barely turn the wheel from one side to an other and have balls which look like raisins.

Ok im gonna say it. This car is the next Duke Nukem Forever. That game was officially canceled not 6 months ago. The forces of the universe need to be in balance, so the universe has decided to give us something else to look at and wish that it would come out...but it never will

BMW needs to get its marketing department in check. Selective leak is good only if you don't renegade on early promises

Here's a question, do employee's of BMW take much notice of forums whereby die-hard fans praise the brand and talk about possible up-coming models?

It is about the money

I think we (bmw enthusiasts) forget that it all boils down to the mighty euro( or dollar).. A product is developed to make money. If the M1 isn't feasible, it won't be made, regardless of whoever comes on this site and speaks about it.

BMW's goals are not to satisfy our needs in creating an M1 we will all like. Bimmerpost clearly does not make up the majority of the market. However, internet enthusiasts on bimmerpost offer free advertising and help raise awareness.. All for FREEE $$$$..

When companies sell cars at a loss, i.e. some exotics, these cars bring brand recognition and capitol in the form of recognition/association. This is often the purpose of halo cars. The M1 will have to supercede the M3 if BMW wants to make it a current E30 M3. What would all the M3 fanboys (e90's excluded due to 4 door practicality) say if BMW marketed the M1 as it's true successor?? The M3 would have to occupy a new niche.

Scott said it couldn't tread on the toes of the M3.. It has to be better in order to be a success to purists. BMW should not follow porsche with the cayman/911 debacle. If the M1 is not better, as said by others, it will fail. BMW has to work this out. I would tend to agree that the F20 will be a better start. The new cars are supposed to eventually have M variants sooner anyway.

That being said, don't get to wrapped up in hype, enjoy what you have.. This philosophy works better as a life principle.
