Detailer's Domain: BMW M3 Competition Package - Alpine White
This beautiful BMW M3 e92 Competition Package car came to us for the full works on the exterior prior to leaving the NY/NJ for a new life in the southwestern part of the country.
The best part is the car came to us cleaned up so there isn't much for us to show in the prep except for the quick wash and decon. We tested out the Sonax Fallout Remover for the decon step, a new product we hope to have in 2014. Since the car spent all of its life in the tristate we expected the usual: fallout, rail dust, and various contaminants. We also used the Sonax Multi Star on this car, on the motor, bug and tar, as well as cleaning up the tires. Exterior - Wheels were prepped with Sonax Wheel Cleaner and cleaned up with various brushes - Tires were spritzed down with Sonax MultiStar and washed down - Wheel wells were cleaned up - Washed with Adam's Car Wash - Decon with Wolf's Decon Gel - Wash down and rinsed - Door jambs were cleaned up - Nano Scrub AutoScrub - Dried - Tires dressed - Masking - Paint Measurement - Compound - Menzerna FG400 - Final Polish - Sonax Nano Polish - Last step - Sonax Polymer Net Shield - Inspection with Fenix, Brinkmann, and natural sunlight - Wheel wells were cleaned and dressed - Rubber and Plastics Treated - Exterior windows and mirrors cleaned and sealed - Exhaust tips cleaned - Windows were auto scrubed, cleaned, and sealed Products used Links to products used - Adam's Car Wash Sonax Fallout Remover coming soon. Is the Sonax Fallout Remover a replacement for clay bar?

Phil,
I just received the Rupes 21 polisher from you and notice that you used the Rupes 75, 15, and 21 (as well as the 6" Griots polisher). Which portions of the M3 do you use with each? As a Pro, I'm sure you save a lot of time just setting down the Rupes 21 and picking up the 15. But as a novice/doing my own cars do you see any benefit (other than saving time from switching backplates) of using a Rupes 15 rather than a Rupes 21 with the 15's backplate? EDIT: The main reason why I'm asking is because I ran into some issues polishing the rear fender (and other voluptuous areas). I knew this car had curves but MAN it's got a "dunk". With the order I received last week from you, I also got the Griots 3" polisher but find that it takes much longer to work compounds and doesn't correct as well as the Rupes. I am wondering if ordering the Rupes 15 backplate will help me in these sort of situations where the 6" pad is too big. Also, I realized that one pad of each color is not enough as it is taking me forever to compound/polish and want to figure out if I should stock up on more 5" Uber pads or 6" Uber pads. Thanks! and I love your site. Although there are quite a few websites out there, your package deal for the Rupes seems the best. None of the other sites include the top-notch compounds/polishes such as the FG400 and Sonax finishing polishes. Heck the FG400 finishes so well I don't think I'll see a benefit of using the Sonax polishes!

How did you fix the 'typical imperfections' in the shadow-line trim? What product/technique?
btw, great job! (as usual) |

Phil,
So is Sonax the sealant of choice now? I've always been a Power Lock guy, but if you're exclusively on Sonax now then I may give it a shot. Looking forward to the Fallout product to be released to the public! Steve
