Does Pandora use cell data?

I love using Pandora in my '17 M3, but is it using my cell data when I'm not on WiFi (which is never while driving)? Just curious how that works, hoping not to get a surprise from Verizon...

Why was this moved? This is not off-topic. This is a question about a feature on my F80 M3's iDrive...

It is very much off topic and it has nothing to do with iDrive or any other manufacturers infotainment system. It has to do with your cell carrier so give them a call.

If it isn't Wifi of course it uses cell data.

Why is this even a question? How else would it stream songs? The iDrive app links to your phone. It can't function without your phone.

Pandora is actually owned by the pope so each time it needs a new song an angel come down and inserts it directly into memory.

It uses data but no enough to make you go over whatever your plan provides a month. Unless you're watching or streaming videos you'll be fine.

uhhh... What?

I hope you are kidding. Personally I always believed there is no such thing as dumb questions but this is by far the dumbest question I have ever seen.

If you can afford a new m3 you can afford data overages. Who cares

His car is depreciating at $35+ a day.

I suppose every bit helps to stem the bleeding

Not everyone is a technologist. I am also surprised the OP doesn’t know but things that seem intuitively obvious to me or someone else might not be for others.

Verizon probably recognizes it's being streamed through an M3 so it's probably free to be honest. Just keep rocking out and wait for your bill next month.

Certain cell carriers allow FREE streaming from Pandora and iHeart. Not sure if Verizon does, probably not.

These carriers DO

Its still using data even if it doesnt count towards your limit.

Usually its higher end plans that have that, if he is concerned about data he probably has a plan with very little data.
