2-piece brake rotors...options?
Hey guys/gals,
Does anyone have recommendations for a rotor replacement for the stock 135i rotors? Looking for a good rotor/pad combo. I drive mainly in the city (but I drive like an ass, I'll concede that) track maybe 1 time a month in the summer. "spirited" I guess? I know the follies of drilled and slotted rotors, but I want the look and want 2 piece rotors for the front (and for the back but I havent found any...?) and something that wont rust excessively. I hear RacingBrake is pretty good but mixed reviews http://www.racingbrake.com/135i-E82-...-11-p/2166.htm BMW perf. rotors are ehh in my opinion...can anyone give me some positive feedback on the RacingBrake rotors or any others they have used? Pads too! Thanks! |

ECS also has some: http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E82-135...ors/ES2550968/
Note: ECS does not have replacement rotor rings for these 2pc rotors |

The ECS rotors are also made in China/Taiwan...

Why not try BMW Performance brake rotors? When it comes to brakes, I would stay with BMW OE parts and not OEM. I have the Performkance brakes on my car and love them!

dude im not saying everything from China is terrible...my point is you buy a foreign, European car for a reason. I dont want aftermarket parts made in countries that have no pedigree for motor sports or even an automobile industry.

I only did the fronts.
The rear Performance rotors are not drilled, but rather dimpled with holes. So they are more for looks. Also my front Performance rotors were 1 pound lighter than my old brake rotors. Btw... I learned a long time ago that while BMW brake rotors do cost more than those look a-like OEM aftermarket rotors(ATE, Zimmermann, Brembo, ect)... the BMW rotors are a better product. They don't warp out like the aftermarket rotors and they are much heavier(better quality steel).

Yes, I also went with OE pads - bc I like the way they have their initial "bite" when cold. Plus BMW has changed their pad compound - to dust slightly less.

I think the dimples are there for better wet braking. They help when the rotor gets wet, to have more bite. Same like the fronts. I noticed that after washing my car now... when I drive off, my brakes actually work! Before the car would not really brake well for the first or second brake application.
