Re: BMW's in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Saw this movie in I-Max yesterday. It was a blast! I highly recommend I-Max for this particular movie. True edge-of-your-seat suspense, great stunts and amazing camera and audio work (read: stuff blowing up)!

What I really like is that BMW chose a 6MT car to show off the new 6-series! FTW!

Ok, I feel better now. I drive a 6MT, therefore I am superior. Muuwahahahah! ")

I have yet to see action movie stunts flipping paddles on a slush box!

Anyone get a chance to see this movie yet? What did you think of the BMW's?

Was invited to see private screening by my dealer at a theater on Long island on the 15th. Not iMax but a very large screen. Liked the new elec. car but didn't see enough of it. With all the Audi's in movies, it's good to see our cars.

Movie was good too!.

I liked the exhaust note on the 1 series. I bet it was lab produced, and not that of the actual car. The car itself is butt-ugly.

The i8 was ok. I just don't get them and I mostly likely never will.

Hit the private screening with our dealership too. Not Imax though. The movie seemed about at reasonable as the others, but with a few more laughs this time. Kinda rough to watch the cars in these and Bond movies getitng beating up

You may want to watch that scene again because it made me laugh a little. That was an automatic car; I saw the steering wheel paddles at least 3 different times... in addition the actual shifter was never shown. What did make me laugh is them showing his feet hitting the pedals on an automatic car.

The movie had corny dialogue at times, but I also got to see it for free courtesy of my dealership and I won a raffle they did onsite and got a free jacket! So it's a win. Loved the cars, just a BMW fan overall, I guess.

I watched it again, and you're right! Nice catch! That's really cheesy then. Why would they show him hitting the pedals, and clearly shifting:

And then sneakily cut to an auto?

2 different stunts cars maybe?

Towards the end of the movie (in India), in the parking garage (regular white 1 series - not the 1 M). He "drove" it to the bottom of the parking garage, to get to the case.

It's really funny; why it was so difficult to find 2 like transmission cars is beyond me?

I think it may be a marketing trick to show off 2 different versions... some people like paddles; others like sticks. And yet others notice the blunder lol.

I can't wait until all cars are automatic so we don't have to hear this everyday.

Any action scene which involves cars running at high speed, needs some excitement and they need to show the skills of the hero, so may be thats the reason they show him shifting (even automatic) and here in this case foot action.

No offense to automatic, but the real fun and excitement is in manual. The sync between foot and hand action adds to the thrill...

Waahhhhh... the third pedal is too difficult. It's soooo heavy. This hydralic clutch is the worse clutch I have ever driven.

I can't wait till all cars are automatics to increase the value of my car, hah.

Mi4 featured the F25 X3 in the Chase scene... Did anyone notice that the BMW X3 used in the head on crash was an E83?
