Rosetta's Spacecraft Successfully Lands On Comet

You probably already read this in the news yesterday afternoon or today. At that time, we (meaning: the scientists) had to wait to see if the craft successfully landed on the surface of the comet. It was harrowing though, it bounced twice and some of the anchoring harpoons didn't bore in to the rock as they were designed to do.

Here is the first image confirming that it did, in fact, land successfully:

The comet is named 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. It took 10 years, 3 Slingshots and 6.4 billion miles to gather enough speed to rendezvous with the comet this fall.

I saw the news yesterday and was really intrigued by it. I work in the same field so I thought it was very promising for the industry.

I hope the extra mass of the lander doesn't alter the path of the asteroid in a bad way. I'm sure someone looked into that already though.

Imagine waiting ten years to see if your idea works. Personally I'm into instant gratification. Next day delivery from Amazon and all that. Ten years...ye gads.

1960s camera tech vs 2014 camera tech. Plus the "stars" look more like dust on the lens to me. You will notice "stars" in the shadows of the rock.

That being said... this was totally orchestrated by the illuminati and monsanto!

Well, the batteries went flat and the lander shut down. It was fun while it lasted
