Performance upgrades to 2006 325i BMW
New to the forum. I just bought a 2006 325i BMW and I wanted to add a bit more to the car as far as performance, but I'd like to keep the cost of the upgrades to 1G or under. When I bought the car, it came with the "sports & lux package" and had a a pretty tight suspension. I was told that the best I could do for under a grand was to get an cold air intake and get a better exhaust. Any thoughts or suggestions would be real helpful.
Also, on a side note, I am also looking around for new tires, though maybe because I'm new to RFT's I'm not falling in love with them. I do a lot of driving (highway) and any crack or change in the road has had be battling the road. I'd like to get something a bit more comfortable and smoother of a ride. I know the car doesn't come with a spare or space for a space, so if there are some RFT's that offer a more comfortable drive, please clue me in. Thanks again for your help. |

You don't have to keep the RFT's

See Tire Rack for reviews of what you might want. If you want to stay with them there is an new Gen 3 Birdgestone that's even got pretty good wear numbers and has a softer ride. The model number escapes me right now but its on Tire Rack. http://www.eurotuner.com/techarticle...25i/index.html http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=35 http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16 |

#1 - Driving Lessons
#2 - Tires and the rest i'm actually thinking about: #3 AFE Cold Air Intake #4 330i Intake Manifold Swap *further research required - Personally, my control arms are cracked and leaking so i'm upgrading to Meyle HD's which are supposedly better from a handling perspective, then i'll be doing the AFE Cold Air Intake, then after that i'll probably do the 330 Intake Manifold swap. Lastly i'll proably get some Eibach springs and be good. Unless you're driving a 335i, you're not going to get any decent power from upgrades unless you invest some serious money to the car which I couldn't justify. The things i'm mentioning i'd imagine help the life time of the car; stronger control arms, cold air intake allows for better cooling, and i'm sure my springs will improve ride and handling qualities. the engine block is made of alusil, wich is not meant to have important variation of compression or pressure. So no supercharger or turbo kit are possible for a trully DD or if you want your car to last more than 20K with it.
