Just Bought 06 530 But hate the rims

Car was too good to pass up. Rims are 17" and I have found a very nice set of 18" that I like. Is it a huge deal to change the rim and tire size? Will it affect speedometer etc.?

Get 23 inch rims that are 100 kilos each rim. That will definately add to the performance, plus it will look shit hot. The speedometer will crack and you need to buy another that costs 35k.

No, it's not. The ride may be a bit rougher but not by that much at all. Also, the speedo won't be changed that much if at all. Try checking the wheel and tire forum on e90post to get some ideas or M5board (it's the same car except they're the M, so offsets may be different for wheel size). It may not be your car but it will give you some ideas on what you can do.

As for wheels, I'd look at M5 replicas. They look great, are cheap, and hold up well.

The CSLs for the E60 look hot too.

17 to 18 is really unnoticeable. You won't really start to notice a significant change until you get to a significant lower profile tire. There's actually a speedo calculator in the tire section of the forum. But it shouldn't be more than a half of a mph or so

The M5 has 19"s and it looks just right. 18"s shouldn't be bad at all.

20"s would fill up the wheel wells just right, but from a performance aspect on these cars, I wouldn't go past 19
