The ultimate driving machine slogan

If you have to change BMW's slogan, "the ultimate driving machine" base on the direction the company is going...what would it be?

Imo...The Ultimate Family Machine

It's still 'Ultimate driving machine'
Especially considering newest additions to the line: 4 series, M235i and M4 which is even lighter than E46 M3.

The Ultimate Driving Machine is only used in English speaking markets.

The actual term is Freude Am Fahren - Sheer Driving Pleasure is the International identification of BMW.

Some car

Thats all they are now. Just some car.

My disgust at the new models aside, I do which they would bring Freude Am Fahren to the US.

This gets my vote thus far.

They're trying to sell a car to every man, woman, and child in the world. They lost focus of what made them great. Fantastic driving machines. They've alienated their core audience in exchange for higher sales. I can't say I blame them from a corporate earnings standpoint but it's a shame from the viewpoint of an enthusiast.

Agree. It will be interesting to see where the enthusiast crowd migrates to. Perhaps Tesla? I really like what they are doing as a car company; sure they're interested in profit, but they seem to be more focused on quality engineering and breaking new ground.

My best friend is currently in the process of dumping his now problematic '08 550i, and he will not be going with another BMW. He's shopping a model S, and this is a guy who has driven nothing but BMW since 1993. Reithofer's BMW seems to only care about boosting share price at all costs, excellence be damned. Shameful.

I doubt it will be Tesla and I also fear that breaking new ground will backfire un us. In many ways, it already is. Porsche opting for a PDK only GT3 is a perfect example. To me, driving enjoyment is measured in smiles per hour, not necessarily miles per hour. I would gladly trade 0.2 seconds to 60 for the involvement of a true manual transmission.

As enthusiasts, we might want to start wishing for less innovation and less groundbreaking. We like speed but we crave involvement and in the race for quicker acceleration, they're removing the weakest element - the human one, and with that goes our involvement. Classic example of being careful what you wish for.

I know more and more people that are buying older cars, because they are simply more engaging to drive. I have a heavily modded E30, and as much as I love my 5er it doesn't come close to matching it in terms of 'fun factor'. A friend of mine is looking for a replacement car, and would rather have an old Integra GSR than anything new.

Unless I'm mistaken, you can't buy a new Ferrari with a manual transmission either.

I still like Tesla a lot. I'm convinced that the ICE is currently in the process of dying a slow death.
