Cutting Power?

Hey Guys,

Long time lurker who finally registered here (N54 135 coupe). I've noticed a few times that the car fully cuts power under certain circumstances. I've not had enough time to test and see if this is the traction control, but my first thought is that it could be. It has happened a few times now on the 1-2 shift, and possibly I believe once or twice just when I punch it in gear, but I can't remember 100%.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Thanks!

Most likely the traction control. Press the DTC button once to relax the traction control a bit (but still pretty safe). Hold the button down for five seconds and all but the antilock brakes are turn off. Be careful with everything turned off. With that much torque, you can find yourself in a world of trouble.

Next time you feel the power cut off glance at the center of the gauges, you should see the yellow illuminated display for traction control flickering.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to make sure this sounded somewhat normal.

If its a nice week, I'll try to verify that it is the DTC. This is my first RWD car (but not the fastest car I've owned), and because of this I'm trying to take it easy by leaving all the 'driving aids' on during everyday driving until I get more familiar with how she drives.

I've noticed power cut after shifts at the drag strip with DTC fully off (held down, happyfunmode icon showing). No flashing CEL or anything shows when it happens.

If I shift slower/softer it doesn't do it and my trap speeds go up. I suspect it is some programming to save the transmission? Another local with a 335i had the same thing.

Are you a 6mt. You are most likely losing boost while you shift so it feels like cut power.
