I bought a Z8!!!

Although this retailed for more than a few of the cars in my past, it is not the $100k version you were expecting.

This is a 1/12th scale Z8 in James Bond packaging. It features a working canvas top, real leather seats, opening glove box, and even has scale functioning hood struts. I acquired it and a few other pcs today and sold off just two of the cars to pay for this, two others I kept and put some profit in my pocket to pay for my S52 top end project. Not a bad day.

What a tease! I get to see the Z8 in the BMW museum here often and that car is just absolutely gorgeous.

Btw, I keep seeing your M-Roadster in your sig and can't help but think I need one of those in my life. Got a build thread for it?

Thank you.

No build thread for it on this forum, it's always a work in progress and being improved.

I can bomb this thread though!

Before I took ownership, it shows the front lips and before the OEM 3pc wing.

AutoX school from when it was NA.

NA dyno, Max Psi SuperFlo Load Bearing pulls w/ catback, intake, headers, pulley: 220whp 213tq

Ripped apart as I begin the blower install

Heat exchanger mounted

More test fitting of blower and brackets

Taken as far as I can with my skills, off to the shop to be finished

Back from the shop, all together and running

Back to the same dyno, out of the box tune, running lean, maybe a bad MAF-runs a bit lean, still showed 367whp and 308ft lbs of torque

Modded VDO boost gauge to look OEM and mounted in place of clock

This summer, big project was the stereo

Added metal chrome trim to speaker pods and air vents after the audio upgrade

So that's mainly it in pics. I have a pretty long mod list I won't bore you with. But I will say that the big power is coming any day now. I have Vac blower cams, ARP 2000 head hardware, and a cutring headgasket designed to hold 20psi ready to go in. I am getting a re-tune, replacing the likely bad used MAF and should make 465whp on a Dynojet, or 415-430whp back on the SuperFlo.

Mine had the MrM Car reinforcement done before I bought it. He is kind of a local(in NJ) Randy Forbes lol.

Car has been solid since it was done in '07-08.

Am I missing something? Randy forbes reinforcement on an E89?

James, great car, love the build. Never noticed the OEM-look boost gauge before but that is perfection IMO. Great work

My Maryland score:

Included the Kyosho M6 with well executed simulated Cf roof. Only reason it's being sold is I have the same car in a MOTO GP safety car version already.

I'm relieved! Didn't they have a major issue with the 'Aluminium' chassis in the full-sized version?

OK, since this is now more of my Z3/M thread....

Car will be done at MaxPsi tomorrow.

So I will have new dyno numbers tomorrow.

As usual it took longer than expected and cost more than was planned. I had a couple of damaged valves that required extra machine work and the first CES gasket did not go on well, got one 1mm larger but it had left a mark on the head, decking the head for an extra couple hundred was for insurance.

I also bought a smaller pulley, 2.85". This is insurance, add another 10-20whp if I have the room too-meaning if the clutch can handle it. If not, I hold off on swapping the pulley until I do the clutch upgrades.

Go-Pro in cars coming soon.

Dyno was a bit of a bust, the tune is shit, fuel trims are a mess, car was breaking up from 6-7k, so no peak whp info. The curve did shift thanks to the cams, tq is 500 rpm sooner which is nice.

Hoping to maybe have the tuner reflash the car Monday.

Couple of vids:
