Post My Estoril F31 xDrive M-Sport 328d Wagon

First diesel, first wagon. Pumped to have this car - it's the ultimate daily for me at this point in my life :-) It's quicker than I expected, so with a tune it should be more than enough.

Build:
2014 BMW 328d xDrive Sports Wagon
Exterior Estoril Blue Metallic
Interior Black Dakota Leather
Transmission Automatic
Options
[0ZMM] M Sport
[0ZCW] Cold Weather Package

First Mod:
aFe drop in (dry) air filter -#31-10225 (serious business, I know - haha)

The BMW OEM air filter #13718507320 is specified for both N20 and N47 engines. http://realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?p...ur=&series=F31 Also, aFe lists this filter for a 320d/dx so I'm pretty sure they do not realize this is the same engine. I did bring it to their attn.

As you can see in the pics, the filter is the same exact size and drops right in the airbox with no concerns. The one pic is misleading, but the length and width are identical.

I plan on a chip of some and clean aesthetic mods next. IND painted reflectors and door lock cap are on the way as well as a pair of bumper plugs. (Unfortunately the front bumper cover was butchered with a plate holder) I'm thinking about 40% tint and M Performance lip, skirts and diffuser next.

Unfortunately we are spoiled by mega companies like Amazon. IND is still a small company so their UPS rates are simply not as favorable. Their price was in line with pricing I saw working at a non-Amazon company, so I'm ok with it :-)

ahh i see that makes perfect sense. yah i figured it would be better to just bundle everything in one order and deal with a single shipping rate

Yessir. I like the red rear reflectors, we will see if I still like them with the diffuser.

Cap and painted reflectors are on. Cleans it up a bit.

I also took off the awful front plate holder. 4 holes and 2 divots on the bumper cover..nice. I may just live with it as they are tiny holes, or do a Euro plate. 4 or 6 bumper plugs would look really stupid.

On my way to a whopping 225hp and 360 ftlbs ;-)

What tune are you doing? I just picked up my F31 and I'm debating if I want to do it and what I'm going to get.

LOL sorry the picture didn't come up when I saw the post before. I've been debating between the Race Chip Pro 2 and the Ultimate or one of the other higher end tunes.

Did you get the Racechips installed yet?? I just picked up a brand new 328d Msport, so I am very interested in the Racechips upgrade. Wondering what your thoughts are about the power delivery and driving habits. Does Racechips offer a warranty on our drivetrain?

Can't see how you'll get 225 hp. BS. Maybe 200 hp in best case. I'm about real driving, not dyno. Because power increasement only through the common rail is not best way.

Not yet. I wanted to do a few road trips first stock to see what my highway economy would be. I hit 43 mpg with 3 adults and a boot full of stuff. I had the cruise on 75 pretty much the whole time. No tuner will warranty the drivetrain that I know...and I've worked with most of them.

I'm just posting what their site says - not too concerned really - this is just a daily driver that I'd like to get some more power out of. From all of the products available for our cars, they have the most professional site, marketing and hardware and there is a reputable magazine review showing good results. Can you show me another tuner for our cars that has a better proposition?

I thought about doing before/after dyno runs, but it really isn't worth it to me.

I can't see how 35hp increase from a turbo'd motor would be outlandish. I have seen tuners squeeze 80whp out of certain turbo'd cars. My car is a daily driver as well, and I am coming off a modded E46 M3, and my daily driver has been a 2008 M5 with $20k in mods making north of 550hp. This car is meant to be realizable and get great gas mileage, not be my weekend toy. I would like to see a little more grunt out of it and smoother power delivery.

I drove from Philly to Sea Isle City for the weekend. 75-80mph on the highway with 3 people in the car and a boot full of stuff.

Crazy!!

You know this simple tune is not enough good.
I'm using TMC Motorsport tuning box. It connects to common rail sensor, camshaft sensor and boost sensor.

Didn't made dynos. Hope there are nearly 210 hp.
Used racelogic in march. Wheather was +10 and my winter tires were awful.
The numbers was:
stock
0-100 km/h — 7,82 sec
0-150 km/h — 17,70 sec

80-140 km/h — 9,86 sec
1/4 mile — 15,68 exit 142,61 km/h

TMC box
0-100 km/h — 7,26 sec
0-150 km/h — 16,05 sec

80-140 km/h — 8,91 sec
1/4 mile — 15,27 exit 146,52 km/h

Sport+ + DS, start from 2500 RPM.

And some videos against Audi A4 B8 2.0 TFSI Quattro 225 hp and BMW F30 320i Mpack stock 184 hp:

It's not the problem when you can crack ECU. But F-series still aren't cracked.

Beautiful ride! Is that Otto's? Saw the badge on the back. Got my E90 there last summer.
