I bought this specifically so I can listen to Pandora.
I also want email and SMS. That way i can ready up on my hour drive to work.
The mini Cooper connect drive seems to be more integrated.
Hoping BMW will have things further along when the march production actually hits the states.

the app can also be used to call up vehicle information such as current speed, outside temperature or navigation destination, enabling the driver to reply to new posts and messages from the car at any time.

I am just going to pick up a short cable so I can play Pandora through the Aux.
Pandora will be one of the 1st 3rd party apps being supported. Should be available by launch at the end of next month.

Does anyone have any idea if the video function can be hacked so that you have video in motion?

what?
Wow! Based on what I had previously read from the feature set, they mean you can use your current speed, outside temperature, or navigation destination to integrate into your facebook posts or tweets.

i know on the GTI, it is tied directly to the P setting of the car. There is basically a switch, when it is on P, it was set to On, else set to OFF. all you had to do was just disconnect the switch, however, I am sure it could have set off an internal code and get you in trouble in the future if u get caught

Omg

No,no,no

This is a horrible idea!!! People are not ready for this we already have fuck-tarded drivers who get distracted with a simple phone call or txt msg. With the release of this connect drive people are going to be worst drivers then ever, here in Miami I already have to deal with dumb ass people driving with simple distractions in nice cars and now BMW wants to put facebook and twatter in the nav im never going to take out my 335i. And I see a whole lot of law suits in the future for BMW Just picture this the first page of ur local newspaper " 18 year old girl killed after running threw a intersection on a red light and getting nailed by oncoming traffic wile updating her status threw the BMW connect drive" this is a bad idea all around if you ask me and if they do go threw with this which they will it better have some safety per-cations like only able to use wile in park or not at all

in my opinion if combox will be in the car with 6FL and telematics, only an upgrade software will be necessary to do this; no hardware necessary, everything will be done from combox.

That's a big assumption.

BMW is charging $250 and only half of that is hardware for the 6FL. Do they have some new wiring for the new media cradle is the question that also is wired into the Nav unit to support it.

I think the combox may support everything except Apps in that case which would suck for everyone.

I assume most would want the apps or someone out there would have to come up with another way.

Kinda stupid that you can Twitter but can't have Video while the car is moving. What if I'm on a road trip and others want to watch video? But while I'm driving I can Twitter! Stupid. But just as stupid I can imagine someone driving and watching a video.

I saw a guy one time driving with a full newspaper open holding the steering wheel with his knees and smoking at the same time.

Saw a woman to reading a hard cover book while driving and yet many more doing makeup in the mirror and brushing their hair with both hands.

So you can't watch video while driving but you can watch your GPS? If they would just tell us about more apps in the works such as controlling aspects of your car remotely or adding music remotely to your harddrive there would be more to get excited about.

Can anyone clarify from BMW?

It is sad that the current iDrive does not display Album Names in uni-code..

See screen shot
Patrys and bimmerretrofit came up with a solution to activate Chinese for CIC iDrive. Maybe you should give them a shout.

You know you can stream pandora from your phone to your car over bluetooth right? I do it all the time and love it!!!!

When will they get off Apples nuts and start supporting Android!!
