Exclamation CF Trunk replacement for E93 Convertibles

Folks,

This message is to generate a list for Challenge to recognize a demand in the marketplace for a trunk option for the E93. IND has asked for a list of 10 or more folks who would be interested in a group buy for an E93 application of the Challenge race/sport trunk.

For pics of the E90/E92 Challenge trunks follow the link:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=368311

List starts here:

1. Captain Slow
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Let's make this happen!!!

I like the Duke Dynamics one better though am hesitant based on zero real world reviews and poor fitment rumors (or maybe an Ericsson style one). How much would this be with a group buy?

Not sure yet what the E93 M3 trunk weighs but here are the specs for the Challenge E92 M3 trunk vs. OEM.

Specs:
Factory trunk weight: 29.5 lbs
Challenge - GT Carbon Race Trunk: 8.8 lbs
OVER 21lbs weight savings!

Also we would only now need a total of 5 E93 M3 owners to get this going. So 4 more to go

Pricing will be the same as the coupe carbon kevlar trunk which is around $2300.00.

I would be more interested and would put my name on there if the edge on the trunk was a bit less aggressive...will it be the same or will it have a different design in a way... ? Let me know

I would be interested more in an Ericsson style trunk as the CSL is a bit over played. But for $2300 I hope the fit would be perfect. Also guys please remember that the E93 has a break light in the trunk.

I'm also wanting Challenge to stay away from the CSL style look on the E93 M3. With the $2300 price tag the trunk will weigh around 8.8-9.1lbs and come in full carbon kevlar.

Wow -that looks impressive. Why do none of the pics ever show the shark fin? I'd assume you get zero radio reception without it?

i think its a bad idea -- just asking for problems on an E93

if you have ANY problems with the roof mechanism in the future..... bring your wallet

Sound like a lot of problems, but it's NOT true; a trunk is a trunk. All the mechanism are hidden inside the box and the box are screw onto the trunk. They are two separate parts.

If you open your trunk and removed the carpet cover then you will know what i meant.

Yep I just had an E93 at the shop yesterday. Trunk looks less complicated to make than the Coupe trunk.

You don't buy a vert if you're worried about the weight IMHO.
