Cool. I have this on my C63.

Nice that BMW is offering this integration now as well.

Well this is going to create quite a few sour apples with the 2011MY crowd. Nevertheless this is great and something I will use often for all types of events, meets, etc. Looking forward to testing out the feature.

I had a GoPro Hero 3 and you can do all that with the "GoPro" app.
Kind of pointless, unless you can live-view the camera thru the iDrive screen.

BMW and GoPro In-Dash Integration

Looks like BMW was showing off more than just the new M3 and M4 at Road America

http://www.coolhunting.com/tech/bmw-...artnership.php

"While in Wisconsin with BMW to test drive the all new M3 and M4 on the Road America racetrack (more on that soon), we were given a sneak peek at the new GoPro app integration partnership. With this, owners of all BMW and MINI models equipped with BMW Apps or MINI Connected systems will be able to control their WiFi-enabled GoPro HERO 3+ camera using the car's iDrive system. Meaning: no more crossing your fingers, hoping you have the right angle, or jumping in and out of the drivers seat to start and stop recording.

Though the iDrive system will work through the native GoPro iPhone app, you'll now be able to manage your camera from the dash, rather than fumbling with your phone while driving. Plus, seeing what your camera sees on new BMW 10" in-dash screen will always be superior to seeing it on your phone. The iDrive will also display camera vitals like elapsed recording time, battery life and Wi-Fi signal strength. Expect more information as it rolls out from BMW and GoPro."

You can override the nannies to watch a DVD while the car is in motion now. Presume someone will figure out a way around for this app too.

That's not to say that we can't or shouldn't track our cars or that BMW can't and shouldn't promote their product's utility on a track- but I'm not sure that BMW should be obligated to indemnify us from the cost of operating above that boundary.

Otherwise- our warranty's (and by extension BMW's) would be far more expensive.

Think about it- what's your guess on the % of lesees that track their BMW but wait for their covered service intervals to have any maintenance done? I can't imagine that BMW would be willing to assume that everyone who pushes their car to 9/10ths is caring for it appropriately.
This. People never seem to understand what a Warranty is actually for.

Hey GoPro, how about you take it up a notch better:
Feed the ODB-II data of speed, RPM, brake, throttle, and gear (or any other user selectable field) from the car's data bus and overlay that onto your video feed. NOW you have something that I really can use. Should be doable, IF, BMW will pass that data to the BMW Apps? Just a thought.
Would sure give that Corvette video solution a 1-up.
That would be nice but in the meantime you'll need a separate OBD device and software/acquisition data that will connect to both the OBD device and GoPro. That's what I do for my track videos.

When all the race cars went by, that gave me goosebumps. What amazing cars, all of them.

They should integrate the App with Facebook. I don't know, maybe every time the car detects crazy lateral acceleration or speeds above 180 km/h, upload the recording to your wall with a status like "Pancho is driving his M4 like a lunatic right know in whatever Ave."

Especially if you have a Hero3 and not a 3+.
GoPro is starting to behave like Apple: debut a new product every 10 months and then promptly stop supporting the old product.
